Student answer (Band 6.5)

In this contemporary era, a bunch of people think that visiting home country is far better than travelling to new country on their holidays. I am partially agree with this statement. The reason behind my stand will discussed further in the following paragraphs.

To begin with, those who believe visiting their own country would be better for saving time and their money. To explain this, they save the long travelling time for visiting different country and even the cost of any means of transport they are using while visiting the other country. Moreover, if they are exploring their own nation it will indirectly help their country to generate the revenue. Explaining further, they might invite their families who are living in other country and they will come to explore the same place and spend more money in that country which will indirectly increases the ratio of tourist too. For Example, during Christmas holidays, people who are living abroad send sponsorship to their families to visit their country in that time.

On the other side, idea of visiting different country during holidays for refreshment and for peace is such a good idea. As they can explore the different culture and they can even do different fun activities which can directly boost their energy. Secondly, the new experiences are also important to live a good life. To excemplify this, many people from Canada, United States, United Kingdom visit Ladakh by bike to get a new experience and the journey gives them peace and joy.

In conclusion, visiting own country save travel time and money, whilst abroad give them life long new experiences, and they can explore the different place and their culture too.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response addresses the prompt by discussing both domestic and international tourism. You clearly state your position as 'partially agree' in the introduction. However, the development of ideas is somewhat uneven. While you provide reasons for domestic travel, the explanation regarding 'sponsorship' for family visits is slightly confusing and does not clearly link to the broader argument of domestic tourism trends. The second body paragraph touches on the benefits of international travel, but the points could be more deeply explored to reach a higher band. Overall, the task is addressed, but the arguments lack the depth and precision required for a higher score.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear progression of ideas from the introduction to the conclusion. You use some cohesive devices such as 'To begin with', 'Moreover', and 'On the other side' to link your points. However, some transitions feel a bit mechanical, and the referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the sentence 'they might invite their families who are living in other country'. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that pronouns clearly refer back to their antecedents would enhance the flow of the essay.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

The vocabulary used is generally adequate for the task, allowing you to convey your meaning clearly. You attempt to use some topic-specific vocabulary like 'generate the revenue' and 'refreshment'. However, there are instances of imprecise word choice and awkward phrasing, such as 'a bunch of people' (too informal) and 'I am partially agree' (grammatical error affecting lexical accuracy). To improve, you should focus on using more academic collocations and avoiding informal expressions. Expanding your range of synonyms would also help to avoid repetition of words like 'country' and 'visit'.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text. Examples include 'The reason behind my stand will discussed' (passive voice error), 'visiting their own country would be better for saving time and their money' (article usage), and 'whilst abroad give them' (subject-verb agreement). These errors are noticeable but do not significantly impede communication. To reach a higher band, you need to improve your control over verb tenses, article usage, and sentence construction to ensure greater accuracy.
