Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses the prompt by discussing the future of domestic versus international tourism. However, the ideas are often unclear or repetitive, and the position is not consistently maintained. While the essay attempts to discuss both perspectives, the arguments lack depth and logical development. For instance, the example regarding Dubai is confusing and does not clearly support the argument that people will stop traveling abroad. The response is somewhat underdeveloped, and the overall argument is difficult to follow due to the lack of clear, coherent reasoning.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organised into paragraphs, but the progression of ideas is frequently interrupted by unclear phrasing and grammatical errors. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'On the one hand' and 'To recapitulate', but they are often applied mechanically or incorrectly. The referencing is sometimes confusing, making it difficult for the reader to follow the flow of the argument. The lack of clear logical links between sentences and paragraphs significantly hinders the overall coherence of the piece.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is limited and often repetitive. There are frequent errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'palaces development' instead of 'infrastructure development' and 'good helf for sale' which is unclear. The student struggles to express ideas precisely, relying on basic vocabulary that occasionally impedes communication. There is little evidence of an attempt to use less common or more sophisticated lexical items, and the errors in word formation are frequent.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The grammatical range is limited, consisting mostly of simple sentences with frequent errors in sentence structure, subject-verb agreement, and punctuation. Examples include 'many city various type of place are more developer' and 'there are tours tavel compnay loss'. These errors are pervasive and often make the meaning difficult to discern. While the student attempts some complex structures, they are almost always faulty, leading to a lack of clarity throughout the response.
