In the future, more people will choose to go on holiday in their own country and not travel abroad on holiday. Do you agree or disagree?
Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.
Student answer (Band 7.0)
People nowadays believe that their will be decline in international travelling and boost in domestic ones. However, I do not agree with this statement because the current trends are showing the opposite reports. Due to globalization and mordernization in certain sectors like transportation, international tourism has been experiencing exponential growth.
The primary reason is the ongoing advancement taking place in transport sectors. The availability of more number of transport vehicles, such as bullet trains, aeroplanes, and ships are making international travel more convenient and faster than before. In addition to that, new electronic options like e-buses and e-cars are enabling people to have a guilt-free journey, as some people are more concerned about the environmental well-being and project fear of heavy carbon emmission.
Moreover, globalization has made world closer then ever before. Numerous people these days are captivated by the idea of exploring different country's culture, tradition and food. Likewise, traveling abroad broadens the horizon in term of geography, culture, people and many more. In addition to that, social media also plays a vital role in bringing this change, for instance, an influencer posting pictures of vacationing in different countries demonstrating its beautiful sceneries and costumes can easily influence and attract their audience to visit those places.
Nevertheless, affordability could be the only reason that could deter individuals to choose vacationing abroad. Unlike, domestic journeys which are comparatively cheaper.
Overall, I believe international tourism sector will definitely be witnessing a surge rather than a downfall. The reason being rapid advancement of technology and people's increasing in interest in other's traditions and cultures.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.5
The response addresses the prompt clearly, maintaining a consistent position throughout. The arguments regarding technological advancements in transport and the influence of globalization and social media are relevant and well-supported. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat brief. For instance, the point about environmental concerns is introduced but not fully linked to the main argument of why international travel will grow. To reach a higher band, you should aim to expand on your examples with more depth and nuance, ensuring that every point directly reinforces your stance against the prompt's premise.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Cohesive devices such as 'In addition to that', 'Moreover', and 'Nevertheless' are used to guide the reader through your arguments. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical, and the paragraphing could be improved; the paragraph discussing affordability is quite short and could have been integrated or expanded to better balance the essay structure. Overall, the progression of ideas is clear, and the central topic of each paragraph is easy to follow.
Lexical Resource — Band 7.0
You demonstrate a sufficient range of vocabulary to discuss the topic with some precision, using terms like 'globalization', 'modernization', 'exponential growth', and 'captivated'. There are some minor errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'their will be decline' (there will be a decline) and 'increasing in interest' (increasing interest). Additionally, 'other's traditions' should be 'others' traditions'. While you attempt to use less common vocabulary, these occasional inaccuracies prevent the response from reaching the higher bands. Focusing on accurate collocations will significantly enhance your score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical slips, such as 'more number of transport vehicles' (a greater number of), 'world closer then ever' (than ever), and 'different country's culture' (different countries' cultures). Punctuation is generally adequate, but there are some issues with article usage and subject-verb agreement. To improve, focus on proofreading for these small errors and try to incorporate a wider variety of complex grammatical structures, such as conditional sentences or passive voice, to demonstrate greater control.
