Student answer (Band 7.5)

In the contemporary era, holidays plays a crucial role for relaxation and rejuvenation for a person after a hectic work or study schedule. However, a certain section of society opines that an individual would prefer to spend their vacations in their own nation in the coming years instead of doing international travels. I adhere to the aforementioned statement for a myriad of reasons which will be explicated in the subsequent sections.

Indeed, firstly, people are getting more aware about their own country through internet surfing and newer places to visit for adventure. In fact, they can even have the similar experience as other places at such lower prices. For instance, If any tourist from India wants to see beaches, then they can travel to South India economically instead of going to Hawaii and Fiji island. Hence, individuals can save their finances for other purposes such as for their children education and other essentials.

Apart from this, the initiative of only travelling in own nation can bring numerous benefits to economy as well. That is to say, it would help the nation become more developed by investing natives resources at tourists destinations nearby and increased employment. As a result, this would help in the growth and development of nation.

Nevertheless, it cannot be neglected that, the proponents who believe in exploring the world would disagree because it is essential to know about other cultures, traditions, cuisines, music and so on to learn about different experiences and values they hold. To add, this is vital to gain insights and become a more knowledgeable person. Thus, travelling abroad is significant to broaden the horizons for any individual.

To recapitulate, although, there are some positive outcomes from travelling to other foreign states, I believe that national itineraries brings ample of advantages for own country such as growth of economy and reduced unemployment.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.5

The response addresses all parts of the prompt, clearly stating a position in the introduction and maintaining it throughout. The ideas are relevant, particularly the economic benefits and the cost-effectiveness of domestic travel. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited; for instance, the point about 'internet surfing' could be more deeply explored to explain how it changes travel habits. The counter-argument is acknowledged, which adds balance, though it could be more effectively integrated into the overall argument. Overall, the response is well-structured and directly answers the question, meeting the requirements for a Band 7.0.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.5

The essay is logically organized with a clear progression of ideas. Each paragraph has a central theme, and the use of cohesive devices such as 'Indeed', 'Apart from this', 'Nevertheless', and 'To recapitulate' helps guide the reader. While the flow is generally smooth, some transitions feel slightly mechanical. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the main arguments from the counter-argument. The referencing is clear, and the overall structure supports the development of the argument effectively, justifying a Band 7.0.

Lexical Resource — Band 7.0

The vocabulary is generally appropriate for the task, with some attempts at less common items such as 'rejuvenation', 'explicated', and 'itineraries'. However, there are some minor inaccuracies in collocation and word choice, such as 'natives resources' (should be 'native resources') and 'ample of advantages' (should be 'ample advantages'). While the range is sufficient to convey meaning with precision, the occasional errors in word formation and collocation prevent it from reaching the higher band levels. The vocabulary is adequate for the task and demonstrates a good level of control.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 7.0

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as subject-verb agreement issues ('holidays plays', 'itineraries brings') and minor punctuation or article errors. Despite these slips, the meaning is always clear, and the errors do not impede communication. The writer demonstrates an ability to use complex structures, such as conditional sentences ('If any tourist... then they can...'), though these are not always perfectly executed. The level of accuracy is consistent with a Band 6.5, as the majority of sentences are clear and the errors are not systematic enough to cause confusion.
