In the future, more people will choose to go on holiday in their own country and not travel abroad on holiday. Do you agree or disagree?
Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.
Student answer (Band 7.0)
A growing number of people in the future will prefer domestic travel instead of abroad trip for holiday. However, still higher proportion of individuals will choose foreign destinations in order to spend their holiday with their family and discover new culture. Therefore, I partially agree with the given statement.
On the one hand, considering own country as a travelling spot brings tremendous benefits to visitors. Firstly, this kind of destinations offer them comfort, convenience and reduce the chance of cultural shock, travelling cost and health issues. Also, they will get an opportunity to explore every part of their nation and gain in-depth knowledge regarding their own cultures, history and chance to spend quality time with the family. For instance, visiting Shimla and Manali allow travelers to witness natural beauty, try authentic Indian meals, meet new people and get more information about their dressing sense and lifestyle. Also, they don't need to apply for complex visa procedure while domestic trip and would be pocket-friendly for low-income people as compared to foreign holiday travel. Sometimes visitors can easily adjust with new weather and would be effortless for them to communicate well with local community and know about their customs and etiquettes.
On the other hand, travelling abroad country has its own advantages to visitors. For instance, visiting UK will allow travelers to explore wester cultures, history, new environment, language and fashion style. Additionally, it will foster them to develop essential skills like good communication, cooperation and independence and educational opportunities. Also they can discover new architecture, art, various cuisines and social etiquettes, which are totally different as compared to their home country. Therefore, it would be responsible for their personal and professional growth.
In conclusion, domestic trip would be affordable, reduce the chance of health issues and opportunity to gain more information about their own culture, history and suitable for small holiday. Whereas, foreign travel will allow visitors to explore new weather, architecture, tourist attractions, natural beauty and cuisine. Therefore, a balanced approach would be considerable rather than totally reliant on own country or abroad for holiday.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.5
You have addressed all parts of the prompt by providing a clear position and supporting it with relevant arguments for both domestic and international travel. Your introduction clearly states your partial agreement, and the body paragraphs provide specific examples, such as Shimla and Manali for domestic travel and the UK for international travel. The ideas are generally well-developed, though the conclusion could have been more concise in summarizing your main points rather than simply listing them again. Overall, you have successfully engaged with the topic and provided a balanced perspective that directly answers the prompt.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. You use cohesive devices such as 'On the one hand', 'On the other hand', 'Firstly', and 'Additionally' to guide the reader through your arguments. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical, and there are minor issues with referencing, such as 'this kind of destinations' (should be 'these kinds of destinations'). Paragraphing is used appropriately, and there is a clear progression of ideas throughout the text. To reach a higher band, focus on using a wider variety of cohesive devices more naturally.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, including terms like 'authentic', 'etiquettes', and 'professional growth'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'abroad trip' (should be 'trip abroad'), 'travelling spot' (should be 'travel destination'), and 'wester cultures' (should be 'Western cultures'). While these errors do not impede communication, they indicate a need for more precise control over word forms and collocations. Expanding your vocabulary to include more sophisticated synonyms for common words would help improve your score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is appropriate for this task. However, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with articles ('the' missing before 'foreign holiday travel'), pluralization ('domestic trip' should be 'domestic trips'), and subject-verb agreement. For example, 'visiting Shimla and Manali allow' should be 'allows'. Additionally, some sentences are slightly awkward, such as 'it would be responsible for their personal and professional growth'. While these errors rarely impede communication, they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. Focus on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy.
