IELTS Writing Task 2 question
In the future, more people will choose to go on holiday in their own country and not travel abroad on holiday. Do you agree or disagree?
Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.
Student answer (Band 6.5)
Nowadays, people like to travel all over the world. They want to explore new things in their life. Compared with the older generation, the young people wish to live a luxurious life style. So, I strongly disagree with the given statement that in future, more people will choose to go on holiday in their own country and not travel abroad on holiday.
To begin with the mindset of people has changed a lot. In this fast paced world, we have access to all countries and there is no limitation to travel. Nowadays, we could easily get jobs in abroad, and also we could live there without any hinderance. Many students from under developed countries migrate to developed countries for higher studies and they find better jobs over there.
Furthermore, transportation became more easier compare with older days,. Even in future, the commutation would become faster and cheaper. Now, it took long hours of flight travel to go to another countries. But sooner, with the help of advanced technology we could travel to different countries with minimal time period. Moreover, in future, to enter to a different country, there will not be any visa procedures. Everyone could get the eligibility to enter.
However, some people would like to travel in their own countries in despite of going abroad. This is because of the travelling inconvenience and they wish to stay in their country.
In conclusion, I largely disagree that the people will choose to go on holiday in their own country and not travel abroad in future. Because, they wish to explore the world, and in future the transportation facilities would become more comfortable.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses the prompt and maintains a clear position throughout. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While you mention that transportation will become faster and cheaper, the argument regarding the removal of visa procedures is speculative and lacks a strong logical foundation. To reach a higher band, ensure that your supporting points are more realistic and fully explored. For instance, instead of predicting the total removal of visas, you could discuss the impact of globalization or the rise of digital nomadism on travel trends. The conclusion effectively restates your position, but the overall depth of the argument remains at a mid-level.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear progression of ideas. You use some cohesive devices such as 'To begin with', 'Furthermore', and 'In conclusion' to link your points. However, the use of these devices is occasionally mechanical or slightly repetitive. Some transitions between sentences could be smoother to improve the flow. For example, the shift between the second and third paragraphs feels a bit abrupt. Improving the variety of your linking words and ensuring that referencing (e.g., 'this', 'these') is used more precisely would help elevate the coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using words like 'luxurious', 'hinderance', and 'commutation'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'jobs in abroad' (should be 'jobs abroad') and 'in despite of' (should be 'despite'). Additionally, some phrasing is slightly unnatural, such as 'minimal time period'. To improve, focus on learning common collocations and ensuring that your word choices are contextually appropriate. While your vocabulary is sufficient to convey your meaning, it lacks the precision and flexibility required for higher band scores.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While you attempt complex sentences, there are frequent grammatical errors, such as 'transportation became more easier' (should be 'has become easier'), 'it took long hours' (should be 'it takes'), and 'enter to a different country' (should be 'enter a different country'). These errors are noticeable but do not generally impede communication. To achieve a higher score, focus on subject-verb agreement, correct preposition usage, and the consistent use of verb tenses. Increasing the variety of your sentence structures while maintaining accuracy will also be beneficial.
