Student answer (Band 5.5)

Unquestionably, people are now leaning towards exploring plethora of places form their own country during holidays. As every coin has two sides, there are people who debate about this topic. In this essay, I will provide my detailed view on this argument with related examples and conclusion.

Firstly, starting with benefits of exploring local viewpoints are less burden on financials. In this modern world of recession and financial constraints, people are favouring budget travel over luxury packages. For an example, India is one of the biggest country by geography. The East part is covered with eye-catching mountain terrains, the West part is covered with desserts and Arabic sea. North India is famous for Kashmir and Himalaya mountain range, which is know as paradise on earth. Secondly, travelling in own country, helps people to learn different culture and boost local economy. The recent tension between North America and Middle Eastern countries has impacted air travel exponentially, people are looking for safe and reliable options.

On it’s darker side, some of the drawbacks which makes it problamatic are, unexplored cities of modern world. In this modern world of social media, people love posting pictures and videos taken on International trips. For instance, people love eating traditional cuisines, visiting other wonders of the world and abosring culture of tribes around the world. Last but not the least, juveniles loves to travel and visiting remote sites from around the world.

To conclude, neither its pros can be neglected nor its cons. It is a mixed bag of positives and negatives. In my opinion, striking an ideal balance between them is the key.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt by discussing the trend of domestic tourism. However, the position is not clearly established or maintained. While you mention that you will provide a 'detailed view', the essay ends by stating it is a 'mixed bag', which fails to clearly agree or disagree with the premise as requested. The ideas are relevant but lack sufficient development; for instance, the paragraph on drawbacks is quite vague and does not directly explain why these factors would prevent people from choosing domestic holidays. To improve, ensure you take a clear stance in the introduction and support each main point with more specific, logical explanation rather than just listing examples.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is sometimes mechanical or misused. For example, 'On it’s darker side' is an awkward transition, and the concluding sentence 'neither its pros can be neglected nor its cons' is grammatically disjointed. Additionally, the progression of ideas within paragraphs is occasionally jumpy; the jump from discussing Indian geography to geopolitical tensions in North America lacks a clear logical link. Improving the use of linking words and ensuring that each sentence flows naturally from the previous one will significantly enhance the coherence of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting some less common words like 'plethora' and 'geography'. However, there are several issues with word choice and collocation that occasionally impede clarity. For example, 'exploring local viewpoints' is an incorrect collocation, as you likely meant 'local destinations'. There are also spelling errors such as 'desserts' (instead of 'deserts'), 'know' (instead of 'known'), 'abosring' (absorbing), and 'problamatic' (problematic). To reach a higher band, focus on using vocabulary more precisely and double-check your spelling of common terms to ensure your writing appears more professional and polished.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that affect the flow. Issues include subject-verb agreement ('juveniles loves'), incorrect article usage ('the East part'), and punctuation errors (e.g., 'On it’s darker side' should be 'On its darker side'). Some sentences are also structurally incomplete or awkward, such as 'For an example, India is one of the biggest country by geography.' While the meaning is generally clear, the frequency of these errors prevents the writing from reaching a higher band. Focus on proofreading for basic subject-verb agreement and pluralisation to improve your accuracy.
