Student answer (Band 7.0)

In the long run, it is believed by some individuals that people would prefer travelling in their own country, instead of planning international trips. However, in my opinion, people would highly be encouraged to travel outside their nation due to various reasons, such as improvement in the means of transportation, and social media impact, which would attract people to travel to other countries.

To begin with, one of the primary reasons why people will be travelling abroad is advancements in the means of transportation. To substantiate, better transportation choices would be available because of immense improvements, and increase in funds allocation to make travelling more convenient, and affordable for commuters. For instance, an introduction of electric buses, and trams have drastically impacted travelling, as the frequency of public transport has been enhanced, thereby, reducing the waiting times. Moreover, air travel has also been improved, and much discount is available on holiday packages, making travel easier and affordable. Hence, the probability of travelling to beautiful destinations outside the country will increase undoubtedly in the coming days.

Furthermore, a surge in usage of social media apps, such as You Tube, and Instagram is highly inclining people to explore well-known and famous tourist attractions abroad, while giving them a chance to experience new cultures, and traditions. To elaborate, a lot of social media influencers post their experience of travelling to different tourist attractions all over the globe, which would definitely pave the way for people to travel to such famous attractions without a doubt. Eventually, incline in the foreign travel would be seen in the coming days.

In conclusion, although the costs of travelling abroad is much higher, people would still be encouraged by social media to travel to new destination around the globe to enjoy mesmerizing experience of travelling to developed countries, and also, due to improved convenience in modes of travelling.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0

The response addresses the prompt clearly, maintaining a consistent position throughout. The arguments regarding transportation and social media are relevant and logically developed. However, the essay could be improved by acknowledging the opposing view more thoroughly; while the prompt asks if you agree or disagree, a more balanced exploration of why some might prefer domestic travel would add depth. The ideas are generally well-supported with examples, such as the mention of electric buses and social media influencers, which helps to extend the response effectively. Overall, the task is fully addressed with a clear, coherent argument.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0

The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Cohesive devices are used throughout, such as 'To begin with,' 'Moreover,' and 'Furthermore,' which help guide the reader through the argument. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate distinct ideas. While the flow is generally smooth, some transitions feel slightly mechanical, and the referencing could be more varied to avoid repetitive structures. Nevertheless, the progression of ideas is clear, and the paragraph structure is effective in supporting the overall argument.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

The vocabulary is sufficient to convey the intended meaning with some flexibility. There is an attempt to use less common items like 'substantiate,' 'mesmerizing,' and 'inclining.' However, there are occasional inaccuracies in collocation and word choice, such as 'incline in the foreign travel' (should be 'increase') and 'highly be encouraged' (should be 'strongly encouraged'). While these errors do not impede communication, they prevent the essay from reaching a higher band. The range is adequate for the task, but more precise vocabulary would enhance the sophistication of the writing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5

The essay demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There is good control over punctuation, and complex sentences are attempted, such as 'although the costs of travelling abroad is much higher, people would still be encouraged...' However, there are several grammatical slips, such as subject-verb agreement errors ('costs... is' should be 'costs... are') and awkward phrasing like 'people would highly be encouraged.' Despite these errors, the meaning remains clear throughout, and the grammatical control is generally consistent, showing a reasonable level of accuracy for this band.
