Student answer (Band 5.5)

Nowadays, more people prefer to go for vacations in different countries rather than exploring their own country .But in the Future , people will chose to spend their vacations in their home country because that is more convenient for them .But I am partly agreed on this statement and I will explain my thoughts below.

On the one hand, staying in home country will let people spend conveniently and smartly because they know how everything works in tourists places. Moreover , people are more concerned about safety of their family. Also some people only prefer to eat their cultural food ,so this will help them to stay stick to their regular taste .For example, my uncle don't visit to any country because he can't digest outside food.

On the other hand , not exploring outside is also a big disadvantage of this life. As we have so many beautiful places in this world to explore like Banff in Canada, New York in USA and my favourite New Zealand . So according to me to get stuck in one place will not let you to explore outside world and also their food . By spending vacations in different countries people can know about their cultures and can learn new languages.

In my Conculsion , exploring different countries is as beneficial to get in touch of your country's popular places. Having balance between both can make our life fill with fun and adventure .

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses the prompt by discussing both domestic and international travel, but it fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, which negatively impacts the development of ideas. While a position is stated, the arguments are somewhat superficial. For instance, the point about 'cultural food' is a valid idea, but it is supported by a very brief, anecdotal example that lacks depth. The conclusion attempts to summarize the position but does not fully synthesize the arguments presented. To improve, you should expand on your points with more detailed explanations and ensure you meet the length requirement to allow for full development of your ideas.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. You use some cohesive devices such as 'On the one hand', 'On the other hand', and 'Moreover'. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly awkward, such as starting sentences with 'But' or 'Also'. The progression of ideas is generally logical, but the transitions between sentences could be smoother to create a more cohesive flow. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring they are used naturally will help elevate your score in this criterion.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but remains quite basic. You rely on common phrases like 'go for vacations' and 'beautiful places'. There are some minor errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'stay stick to their regular taste' and 'fill with fun'. To reach a higher band, you should aim to incorporate more precise, topic-specific vocabulary related to tourism and travel, such as 'domestic tourism', 'cultural immersion', or 'logistical convenience', and work on using these in more natural collocations.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors, including subject-verb agreement issues (e.g., 'my uncle don't visit') and punctuation errors (e.g., spaces before commas and periods). There are also issues with article usage and prepositional phrases, such as 'get in touch of your country's popular places'. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to be noticeable. Focusing on proofreading for basic subject-verb agreement and punctuation will significantly improve the accuracy of your writing.
