In the future, more people will choose to go on holiday in their own country and not travel abroad on holiday. Do you agree or disagree?
Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.
Student answer (Band 6.5)
It is often predicted that more individuals will prefer to spend their vacation in their own country rather than travelling overseas in the future. I completely disagree with this notion and the reasons for my view point will be discussed in following paragraphs.
First and foremost, international travels allow people to experience different cultures, traditions and lifestyles. The main benefit of is that it broadens their horizons and helps them develop a better understanding of people from different backgrounds. As a result, travelers become more open minded and aware about new cultures. For instance, an Indian traveler who are visiting Switzerland can explore the cultural traditions and enjoy its breathtaking landscapes, which are completely different from those found in India.
Secondly, travelling to a foreign country can help to contribute in people’s personal development. It can help to individuals to step out from their comfort zones and become independent. As a result, they can become confident and more adaptable with new culture. For example, someone who travelling alone to Paris may have to communicate with their local people for information, which can boost their confidence and independence.
Finally, many international destinations have unique historic and unique attraction that are unavailable in their own’s country. The advantage is that people can enjoy it as a lifetime experience and create an unforgettable memory. As a result, people are getting encourage to travel internationally. For example, tourists can visit Niagara Falls in Canada for picturesque waterfalls and unforgettable experience.
In conclusion, I strongly disagree that people will increasingly prefer domestic holidays to travelling abroad. International travel allows people to experience different cultures, develop new skills and visit unique places, which can make overseas holidays an attractive choice for many tourist.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses the prompt clearly and maintains a consistent position throughout. Each paragraph introduces a relevant argument—cultural exposure, personal development, and unique attractions—which are supported by examples. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat repetitive; for instance, the focus on 'broadening horizons' and 'gaining confidence' could be explored with more depth rather than just stating the result. The conclusion effectively summarizes the main points. To reach a higher band, ensure that the supporting examples are more specific and that the arguments are fully extended to demonstrate a deeper level of critical thinking regarding the future of tourism.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Each paragraph has a central theme, and the progression of ideas is easy to follow. Cohesive devices such as 'First and foremost', 'Secondly', 'As a result', and 'In conclusion' are used effectively to link ideas. However, there is some mechanical use of these devices, and the referencing is occasionally slightly repetitive. Paragraphing is used appropriately, and the overall structure supports the reader's understanding of the argument. To improve, try to vary the transition signals to make the flow feel more natural and less formulaic.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate and allows for clear communication. You use some good collocations like 'broadens their horizons' and 'step out from their comfort zones'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and phrasing, such as 'own’s country' (should be 'one's own country') and 'getting encourage' (should be 'encouraged'). The range is sufficient for the task, but it lacks the sophistication and precision required for higher bands. To improve, focus on using more precise academic vocabulary and ensuring correct word forms and collocations.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical errors that occur throughout the text. Examples include 'The main benefit of is that' (missing noun), 'an Indian traveler who are visiting' (subject-verb agreement error), and 'someone who travelling alone' (incorrect verb form). These errors do not impede communication, but they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. To improve, pay closer attention to subject-verb agreement, verb tenses, and the correct use of relative clauses.
