Student answer (Band 6.5)

Tourism is an integral part of the world. Some people believe that many people will travel within their own country rather than traveling abroad during holidays. I partially agree on the given statement, as I believe it more or less depends on the people's choice and budget they have for traveling.

The first and foremost reason why people would not stop going to abroad on during holidays could be dream destination. To elaborate, there are so many people who have wish to visit some countries once in their life. Thus, they work hard and save some money just to visit such places they dreamt of once. The second reason could be exposure of new culture. As people know, every country has a diverse culture, and people are keen to know about it. Despite of knowing they will have to bear with money and time, still they prefer to go and visit such places with cultural diversity.

On the other hand, there are many people who claim that people in the future will travel in their own country rather than going abroad. The first reason could be limited time. People often do not get much time during a holiday season. They hardly get 4 to 5 holidays together, thus it gets very difficult to plan holidays abroad instead they could plan their holidays within a country and enjoy. The second reason could be limited budget. To explain, there are so many people who have limited income so they can hardly save money. Therefore, someone with limited budget, it becomes easy to travel with in the country, as they might not need to spend extra money on costly transportation and accommodation.

To conclude, yes, there is a possibility theta people might travel more within their own country in the future. However, I do not feel traveling abroad will completely go away, as people will have their own wish.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0

The response addresses all parts of the prompt, providing a clear position that is maintained throughout. The ideas are relevant, discussing both the desire for international travel (dream destinations, cultural exposure) and the practical constraints favoring domestic tourism (time and budget). While the arguments are logical, they could be further developed with more specific examples or deeper analysis to reach a higher band. For instance, the point about 'cultural diversity' is a good start but remains somewhat general. Overall, the response is well-focused and directly answers the question, demonstrating a clear understanding of the task requirements.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0

The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the two sides of the argument. Cohesive devices such as 'The first and foremost reason', 'To elaborate', 'On the other hand', and 'To conclude' are used to guide the reader through the text. However, some transitions are slightly mechanical, and there are minor issues with referencing, such as the phrase 'despite of knowing they will have to bear with money', which lacks a clear subject. Despite these minor flaws, the progression of ideas is clear and easy to follow throughout the response.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the student to express ideas clearly. There is some attempt to use less common vocabulary, such as 'integral part' and 'cultural diversity'. However, there are several instances of awkward phrasing and word choice errors, such as 'go to abroad on during holidays' and 'bear with money'. Additionally, there is a minor typo ('theta' instead of 'that'). While the range is sufficient to convey meaning, the lack of precision and occasional errors in collocation prevent the response from reaching a higher band in this criterion.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The student uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with prepositions and articles (e.g., 'go to abroad', 'travel with in the country'). Some sentences are slightly clunky, such as 'someone with limited budget, it becomes easy to travel'. There are also issues with subject-verb agreement and word order. While these errors do not impede communication, they are frequent enough to suggest that the student has not yet mastered complex structures, keeping the score in the 6.0 range.
