Student answer (Band 5.5)

It is widely believed that people will prefer to visit their home country instead of travelling abroad on vacations. I largely agree with this statement as birthplace connection and meeting people with whom they are born and raised make this viewpoint particularly convincing.

The foremost reason for my position is that people has become emotionally weak they are deeply connected with the land where they are born. That is why they would love to spend some time with family and friends.

A clear illustration of this can be seen in people living in abroad for so long still wants to go back to their birthplace. These vacations will help them to get relief from home sickness.

Consequently, they will not forget their roots and culture.

Another compelling argument is this people wants their children to become familiar with their culture and language. Home country tours assists them to explain their children about their parents birthplace, culture and tradition.

In other words, Individuals prefers to pass their religious customs and rituals to future generations.

A good example of this is that Indians prefer to take their kids to India on vacations so they can learn native language, and also become familiar with history of India.

In addition, people could meet their childhood friends and neighbors.

In conclusion, I remain firmly convinced that I completely agree with this statement. This is because attachment to birthplace and heritage and culture conservation both of which can have a significant impact on their future and society.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position in favor of domestic tourism. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While you provide reasons such as emotional connection and cultural preservation, the arguments remain quite brief and could benefit from more detailed explanation or broader examples. For instance, the point about 'emotional weakness' is a bit unclear and could be better articulated as 'nostalgia' or 'a desire for familiarity.' To reach a higher band, ensure that each paragraph fully explores the implications of your arguments rather than just stating them.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear progression of ideas. You use some cohesive devices such as 'consequently,' 'another compelling argument,' and 'in addition.' However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical, and the flow between sentences could be smoother. Additionally, some referencing is slightly awkward, such as 'this people wants,' which disrupts the cohesion. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that pronouns clearly refer back to their antecedents would enhance the overall flow of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary used is generally adequate for the task, but it lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. You rely on fairly simple phrasing, such as 'people has become' and 'spend some time.' There are also some minor inaccuracies in word choice, such as 'living in abroad' (should be 'living abroad') and 'home sickness' (usually one word: 'homesickness'). To improve, try to incorporate more sophisticated collocations and topic-specific vocabulary related to tourism, cultural heritage, and globalization.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, particularly with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'people has become,' 'people wants,' 'Individuals prefers') and article usage. While you attempt some complex structures, they are often marred by these errors. The sentence structure is mostly simple, and the lack of control over basic grammar rules occasionally forces the reader to re-read to understand the intended meaning. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and consistent tense usage will significantly improve your score in this criterion.
