Student answer (Band 6.5)
It is often argued that, in the future, an increasing number of people will prefer to spend holiday in their own countries rather than travelling abroad. I partly agree with this statement because domestic holiday is becoming more convenient and affordable, although international travel will continue to the attractive option for many people.
To begin with, there are several reasons why domestic holiday will be more preferred by individuals. First and foremost, travelling in own country is more convenient. Since people can speak their own language rather than using international language while communicating with people during travelling, enabling them to conveniently explore various regions. Moreover, as people are familiar with common things such as how to use public transport, get accommodation, weather, local culture, that allow them to spend their holidays without facing any difficulty. For instance, a family in India can visit national parks, lakes and coastal area without dealing with the complications associated with international travel.
In addition, domestic travel is often affordable, which is particularly the best available option for people who wants to explore without affecting their budget, as it does not involve any fees associated with flights, visa and embassy expenses. Therefore, travelling in own country is also budget friendly that preferred by many people.
However, I do not believe that international tourism will decline dramatically. One major reason is that travelling abroad allow individuals to explore different culture, taste different cuisines, learn foreign language and visit historically significant places. This enables them to broaden their perspectives and develop a greater appreciation for other nations. For instance, people who visit Dubai to see one of the longest buildings in the world called 'Burs Khalifa' have the opportunity to explore that how creative people can be. Furthermore, international tourism allows to know about unique lifestyle of other nations and acquire the useful knowledge and ideas that can be beneficial in their own life.
In conclusion, I believe domestic tourism will become increasingly popular in the future because it is cheaper and convenient. Nevertheless, I disagree that most people will completely abandon international holiday, as travelling abroad provide unique cultural and personal experience that domestic travel cannot fully replicate.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The response addresses all parts of the prompt, providing a clear position that acknowledges both sides of the argument. The ideas are relevant and generally well-supported. For instance, the discussion on domestic travel benefits (convenience, language, familiarity) and the counter-argument regarding the cultural value of international travel are logically developed. However, some points could be more deeply explored to reach a higher band; for example, the mention of 'creative people' in the Dubai example is a bit vague. Overall, the position is consistent throughout the essay, and the conclusion effectively synthesises the main points.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The essay is logically organised with a clear progression of ideas. Each paragraph has a central topic, and the transition between the benefits of domestic travel and the counter-argument for international travel is smooth. Cohesive devices such as 'To begin with', 'Moreover', 'In addition', and 'Nevertheless' are used effectively to guide the reader. While the paragraphing is appropriate, some of the linking phrases are slightly repetitive or mechanical. Referencing is generally clear, and the overall structure supports the development of the argument well.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
The vocabulary used is sufficient to convey the intended meaning with some flexibility. There are attempts to use less common items, such as 'complications', 'replicate', and 'broaden their perspectives'. However, there are some minor inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'travelling in own country' (missing article 'their') and 'international language' (should be 'foreign language'). The phrase 'one of the longest buildings' is also slightly imprecise for the Burj Khalifa. Despite these minor issues, the range is adequate for the task and communication is never impeded.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There is good control over basic grammar, but there are persistent errors, particularly with articles ('the attractive option', 'the complications') and subject-verb agreement ('people who wants', 'travelling abroad allow'). Some sentences are slightly clunky, such as 'travelling in own country is also budget friendly that preferred by many people'. While these errors are noticeable, they do not impede communication. To improve, the student should focus on article usage and ensuring complex sentences are punctuated correctly.
