Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses the prompt and maintains a clear position throughout. The arguments are relevant, such as the mention of career opportunities and climate variation. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat superficial. For instance, the link between 'job opportunities' and 'holidays' is not fully explained, and the argument regarding 'extroverts' is a bit tangential. While the prompt is addressed, the supporting points lack depth and could be more effectively linked to the core issue of why people might choose domestic over international travel. The conclusion is a bit repetitive and slightly disjointed in its phrasing.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear progression of ideas. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'On the one hand', 'Moreover', and 'In conclusion', which help guide the reader. However, some transitions are mechanical or slightly awkward, such as 'My inclination will elaborated in ensuing paragraphs'. Additionally, referencing is occasionally unclear, and some sentences feel disconnected from the main argument. While the paragraphing is appropriate, the flow between sentences could be smoother to achieve a higher band score.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the student to express their ideas clearly. There are attempts to use less common vocabulary, such as 'inclination' and 'monsoon', but there are also noticeable errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'debatable topic' (should be 'a debatable topic'), 'belongs from' (should be 'belong to'), and 'keep safe their counties reputation' (should be 'preserve their country's reputation'). These errors do not impede communication but indicate a limited range of precise vocabulary.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The student uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including subject-verb agreement issues ('many individuals considered', 'bus overseas trip can would assists'), article usage ('the Taj Mahal' is correct, but 'the old place' is vague), and tense inconsistencies. While the meaning is generally clear, these persistent errors in basic grammar and punctuation prevent the essay from reaching a higher band. The sentence structure is often repetitive, relying on similar patterns.
