Student answer (Band 6.5)

social media

In the upcoming time, a majority of individuals will choose their holiday destination in their home nation, instead of travelling foreign countries. I totally agree with this notion as technological advancement helps people to explore the hidden gems in their native country.

One of the primary reasons why citizen will choose their own country for their holiday is that rapid technology development enables masses to find several destinations along with easy booking of hotels, and travelling tickets, which makes it convenient for travelers to plan their holidays. This is largely because people are using a number of social media applications, which allows them to watch their favorite actors and influencers visiting numerous places in their country that they are unaware of. They get influence from them and visit those destinations to get in-person experience, what they have seen on social media. Therefore, there are high chances of people to visit several tourist spots in their country.

Another significant consideration is that travelling abroad for holiday is highly expensive, whereas travelling in a native country is budget-friendly. Not only do people are well-educated and they know that spending financial resourses holiday in their own country will assist to boost their nation's economy, but it also attracts foreign visitors to explore their nation. For example, due to popularity of Taj Mahal in India, people from all around the globe visit every day. As a result, these factors can largely effects the decision of individuals for choosing holiday destination.

To conclude, due to awareness about several spectacular sight-seeing available in the native country, more people will choose to go on holiday in their own country, and not to travel abroad on holiday.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response addresses the prompt clearly, maintaining a consistent position throughout. The arguments regarding technological convenience and economic benefits are relevant and well-supported. However, the development is slightly uneven; while the first body paragraph is well-explained, the second paragraph introduces several ideas (cost, education, economy, and tourism) that could have been more tightly focused. The inclusion of the Taj Mahal as an example is appropriate and adds depth. To reach a higher band, ensure that each paragraph focuses on a single, well-developed argument rather than listing multiple points, which can lead to a slight lack of depth in the analysis.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Cohesive devices such as 'One of the primary reasons', 'Another significant consideration', and 'Therefore' are used effectively to guide the reader. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate distinct ideas. However, there are minor issues with referencing and flow; for instance, the phrase 'what they have seen on social media' is slightly awkward and disrupts the cohesion of the sentence. Overall, the progression of ideas is clear, and the structure supports the central argument effectively.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, with some attempts at less common items like 'native country', 'spectacular', and 'technological advancement'. There are, however, some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'travelling foreign countries' (should be 'travelling to foreign countries') and 'effects the decision' (should be 'affects the decision'). While these errors do not impede communication, they indicate a need for more precise control over word forms and collocations. Expanding the range of topic-specific vocabulary would further improve the score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the writer attempts complex sentences, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement and preposition usage, such as 'citizen will choose' (should be 'citizens will choose') and 'people are well-educated and they know that spending financial resourses holiday' (should be 'spending financial resources on holidays'). Punctuation is generally functional, but the sentence structure occasionally feels mechanical. To improve, the writer should focus on correcting basic agreement errors and refining the use of prepositions to ensure greater accuracy in complex sentences.
