Student answer (Band 6.0)

It is predicted that many people will select their own nation for spending their leisure time rather than opting any other country. I am totally disagree with this idea.

The main reason is cost effectiveness as the spending on vacation inside own country is sometimes more or similar as compared to other country. For example if one need to take a round trip flight from Vancouver to Toronto it costs somewhat around $600 while from Vancouver to Los Angles one can travel just for $250 then we would a person will not think about visiting Los Angles over the Toronto. Moreover people think they can visit their country anytime as there is not much changes that they can see and enjoy. Some of them want to explore the famous destinations which they heard it from their friends or social media as those create different sort of image into their mind. It is also seen that people go for many secondary things such as night life, parties which they cannot do within the reach of their family. Some of them go their for shopping as many things that they use are quite especially for the special occasion are very cheap. For example, there is huge difference in price of gold between India and UAE.

However, people who are educated enough and think about the economy, they would like to spend their money within their as country as that money will comeback to them directly or indirectly. Few of them who could not afford much they use public transport such buses and train to travel for their holiday. Such kind of people try to have their contacts where they can stay, eat that can reduce their expenses.

To conclude, everybody has a dream to explore the world, if some one can afford or save his money by going to abroad then definitely abroad is best option but for those who have contacts or are nation lovers they should travel within their comfort region.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

You have addressed the prompt by taking a clear position against the idea that domestic tourism will replace international travel. However, the development of your ideas is somewhat uneven. While you provide a relevant example regarding flight costs between Vancouver and Toronto versus Los Angeles, other points, such as the mention of 'secondary things' like nightlife or shopping, are a bit underdeveloped and lack clear links to the main argument. To reach a higher band, ensure that every paragraph directly supports your central thesis with more cohesive reasoning rather than listing disparate reasons. The conclusion is a bit contradictory, as it suggests that traveling abroad is the 'best option' while also suggesting people should travel within their comfort region, which slightly undermines your initial position.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow your argument. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or missing. For instance, the transition between the second and third paragraphs is abrupt. You rely on basic connectors like 'Moreover' and 'However', but the flow between sentences within paragraphs is sometimes disjointed. Referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the phrase 'Some of them go their for shopping', where the pronoun 'their' is used incorrectly. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that pronouns clearly refer to their antecedents would significantly improve the flow of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

Your vocabulary is generally adequate to convey your meaning, but it lacks the precision and range required for a higher band. You use some repetitive phrasing, such as 'some of them' and 'people', and there are several instances of awkward word choice, such as 'not much changes that they can see' and 'within the reach of their family'. There are also minor errors in collocation, such as 'opt any other country' instead of 'opt for any other country'. To improve, try to incorporate more topic-specific vocabulary related to tourism and economics, and focus on using more natural collocations.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but the accuracy is inconsistent. There are frequent errors in basic grammar, including subject-verb agreement ('if one need to take'), missing articles ('as compared to other country'), and incorrect preposition usage ('go their for shopping'). Additionally, some sentences are poorly constructed, such as 'then we would a person will not think about visiting', which makes the meaning difficult to parse. While your meaning is generally clear, these persistent errors in basic grammar and punctuation prevent the essay from reaching a higher band. Focusing on proofreading for subject-verb agreement and article usage would be highly beneficial.
