In the future, more people will choose to go on holiday in their own country and not travel abroad on holiday. Do you agree or disagree?

Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.

Student answer (Band 5.5)

In holidays, many people want to explore different countries and their different religion, culture, diversity and language. Many people believe that in future mostly people will prefer travelling within country. But I'm totally disagree from that because travel preferences of many people are abroad.

Being an Indian I understand that our country is full of diversity and we all love our country. But if we got an option to explore different areas in vacation then people will choose going abroad instead of India. For example Canada, Germany, Russia, Italy and many more these are preference of most Indian people.

Due to inflation, the difference of costing in national vacation and international vacation are almost same. The perspective of many people have been shifted to travelling abroad. There are some countries where the value of indian currency good. Due to which the expenses are much cheaper.

People must be aware about there own country but it might can happen that they are not aware about other country cultures and traditions due to which people have eagerness in exploring other countries. Many times it happen that people from different states are working with you or maybe studing with you due to which you got to know more about the different religion, traditions, customs and festivals.

In the conclusion, I believe that many people want to go abroad instead to staying in their own country. Because as I have mentioned above they have willingness but they must have the knowlege about their country

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position against the idea that domestic tourism will replace international travel. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While you mention inflation and currency value as reasons, these points are not fully explored or supported with specific, detailed evidence. The argument regarding cultural awareness is a bit repetitive and lacks a strong connection to the main thesis. To improve, ensure each paragraph provides a clear, well-supported argument that directly reinforces your stance. The conclusion is a bit abrupt and does not fully synthesize the points made in the body paragraphs.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate. For example, 'Due to which' is used incorrectly at the start of sentences, and transitions between ideas are sometimes abrupt. The logical progression within paragraphs is occasionally hindered by awkward phrasing, such as in the fourth paragraph where the link between working with others and the desire to travel is not clearly articulated. Improving the variety and accuracy of linking words would significantly enhance the flow of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using words like 'diversity', 'inflation', and 'perspective'. However, there are several instances of word-choice errors and awkward collocations, such as 'difference of costing' instead of 'cost difference' and 'I'm totally disagree' instead of 'I totally disagree'. Some phrasing is also repetitive, particularly the use of 'different' and 'people'. To reach a higher band, focus on using more precise collocations and avoiding basic grammatical errors that affect word choice. Expanding your vocabulary to include more academic synonyms would also be beneficial.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout. Common issues include subject-verb agreement ('mostly people will prefer'), incorrect preposition use, and awkward sentence construction ('it might can happen'). Punctuation is generally functional, but there are errors in sentence boundaries and word order. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to lower the score. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence patterns and proofreading for common errors like verb forms and article usage.
