Student answer (Band 6.0)

Travelling is about creating new memories, discovering new experiences and enjoying the journey. It is believed that in the upcoming era most of the individuals will give priority to spend their vacations in home country instead of travelling foreign countries. I totally disagree this statement and forthcoming paragraphs will discuss reasons for my statement.

To commence with the first reason, nowadays most of the habitants prefer to explore new places and have a unique experiences in their life. To explicate, people get bored of trips in the same country as they want something different. Moreover, in overseas nations people get chance to communicate new community which will not only enhance their knowledge about their culture but also rising their communication level to meet new people. For example, recent survey done by Travel agency of Mexico revealed that 76.50 percent of citizens travelled across international nations to explore new places. Therefore, most of the public travel across several nations.

Another reason for planning trips to new countries is experiences different cultures. To explain, travelling to other countries let them experience new traditions, languages, food and ways of life. Some nations have very interesting way of living. For instance, Golden Temple is very renowned place of Punjab where lots of natives came to enjoy the beauty of temple, their culture, rituals and so on. Furthermore many people are fond of trying different cuisines so they travel across borders to have a taste of those and they got satisfied. Hence, enjoying holidays at new countries is most common.

To conclude, people visit new countries to get familiar with their culture and traditions, explore new experiences, to see something diffenrent and so on.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses the prompt and maintains a clear position throughout. However, the development of ideas is somewhat repetitive and lacks depth. For instance, the argument regarding 'experiencing new cultures' is mentioned in both body paragraphs, leading to a lack of distinct supporting points. The example regarding the 'Golden Temple' is slightly confusing as it describes domestic tourism in Punjab, which contradicts your stance that people prefer international travel. To improve, ensure each paragraph introduces a unique, well-developed reason that directly supports your disagreement with the prompt. The conclusion is also quite brief and merely restates the points without adding a final thought or summary of your position.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear progression of ideas. You use cohesive devices such as 'To commence with', 'Moreover', and 'To conclude' to link your thoughts. However, some transitions feel mechanical or slightly misused, such as 'To explicate' or 'To explain', which are not standard academic collocations. Additionally, the referencing is occasionally unclear; for example, in the second paragraph, the phrase 'communicate new community' is grammatically awkward and hinders the flow of the argument. Improving the variety and naturalness of your linking words will help the essay read more fluently.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using words like 'renowned', 'rituals', and 'cuisine'. However, there are several instances of awkward word choice and collocation errors, such as 'rising their communication level', 'habitants' (instead of 'inhabitants'), and 'international nations'. These errors occasionally make the text sound unnatural. To reach a higher band, focus on using collocations correctly and expanding your range of topic-specific vocabulary. Avoid repeating simple phrases like 'new places' and 'new experiences' multiple times, as this limits the sophistication of your writing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While you attempt complex sentences, there are frequent grammatical errors, such as 'I totally disagree this statement' (missing a preposition), 'travelling to other countries let them experience' (subject-verb agreement), and 'enjoying holidays at new countries is most common'. Punctuation is generally functional, but there are minor errors throughout. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of prepositions. Increasing the number of error-free sentences will significantly improve your score in this criterion.
