IELTS Writing Task 2 question
In the future, more people will choose to go on holiday in their own country and not travel abroad on holiday. Do you agree or disagree?
Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.
Student answer (Band 6.5)
In upcoming future individuals would choose to plan excursions in their own nation rather then going to oversees. In my opinion, I partially agree with this view because travelling own nation would be affordable; however, spending holidays in abroad bring significant knowledge and experience about different culture and their exotic food.
To begin with, exploring uncharted territories in their own nation would always been cost effective in compare with going on out of country; consequently, people would explore more sites with their comrades in the lower budget. For example, In developing nation like India, citizen can plan a week trip in $ 2000, while it would become expensive to spend their holidays in Canada due to high rates of flights and hotels.
Nonetheless, there are a number of persons who have a dream to go for their vacation in foreign country since they can explore exquisite views of nature, their culture and their food which are hardly to experience in their own nation. Additionally, by knowing about foreign culture and their customs they would get some ideas what is differentiating factors related to their own culture and others. Therefore, visiting trips at abroad always brings new ideas and experience.
In my opinion, it is an individual decision about making their travel plans for vacation and it is hard to assume that what would be the future scenario about choosing their destinations; however, there are numerous individuals who still carry a dream to fly one day and spend their time in between other culture.
To conclude, while in future lower class income generator individuals may choose to spend their holidays in their own country, I remain convinced that planning excursions to oversees never will become degrading trend among people due to interest of experiencing different culture and exotic food.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses all parts of the prompt by providing a clear position and supporting it with relevant arguments regarding cost-effectiveness and the desire for cultural exposure. The ideas are relevant, though the development is somewhat repetitive, particularly in the third and fourth paragraphs. The position is consistent throughout, and the conclusion effectively summarizes the main points. To reach a higher band, the student should aim to provide more specific, nuanced examples rather than general statements, and ensure that the arguments are fully extended without repeating the same points about 'culture and food' multiple times.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each with a central theme. Cohesive devices such as 'To begin with', 'Nonetheless', and 'To conclude' are used to guide the reader through the argument. However, there is some mechanical use of these devices, and the flow between sentences is occasionally hindered by awkward phrasing (e.g., 'visiting trips at abroad'). Referencing is generally clear, but the transition between the third and fourth paragraphs is slightly disjointed, as the fourth paragraph repeats the idea of individual choice without adding significant new information to the progression of the argument.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing the student to express their ideas clearly. There are attempts to use less common vocabulary, such as 'uncharted territories', 'exquisite', and 'exotic', which is positive. However, there are several instances of awkward word choice and collocation errors, such as 'lower class income generator individuals', 'degrading trend', and 'visiting trips at abroad'. These errors do not impede communication, but they do highlight a lack of precision. Expanding the range of collocations and refining the use of academic vocabulary would improve the score in this criterion.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the student attempts complex sentences, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with articles ('in developing nation', 'in abroad'), prepositions, and verb forms ('would always been cost effective', 'hardly to experience'). Punctuation is generally functional, but there are minor issues with capitalization and spacing. The errors are noticeable and occur throughout the text, though they rarely prevent the reader from understanding the intended meaning. A greater focus on subject-verb agreement and article usage would significantly enhance the accuracy of the writing.
