Student answer (Band 6.0)

In the future more and more people would opt their own country as tourist spots in vacations rather than exploring other countries. This essay will discuss the reasons for this, which in my opinion are, budget-friendly options and an innate wish to explore the places where they belong.

To begin with, a greater section of society argue that, travel around their own country is financially affordable for them. As in today's world, people are already suffering from hike in oil prices due to closure of US-Iran war resulting in closure of Strait of Hormuz. Due to increase in oil price, everyday living is getting tough for people, so they didn't get much left to spend on holidays. The easy option for them to choose is tourist places in their own country which are budget friendly. In my opinion, in the future, a large section of people will choose to travel around their own country.

Moreover, I am of the view that, human being has an innate wish to explore what is close and nearby them first and foremost. People will choose to travel around their own tourist places like historical places and beaches.

However, some people argue that, to travel abroad is one of the fantasy that individuals may have. This opportunity broadens their horizons and makes people feel more acceptable and affluent in society.

In conclusion, budget friendly options and wish to explore their country are the reasons why people will choose to opt for their own country. Governments must take the responsibility to develop tourist infrastructure to promote in-home travelling.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The essay addresses the prompt by taking a clear position and providing two main reasons: economic factors and the desire to explore one's own country. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited. The explanation regarding oil prices and the Strait of Hormuz is overly specific and slightly tangential, which detracts from the main argument. While the position is clear throughout, the supporting arguments could be more thoroughly extended to reach a higher band. The conclusion is relevant, but the suggestion for government intervention is a new point that was not previously discussed in the body paragraphs.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear central topic. Cohesive devices such as 'To begin with', 'Moreover', and 'In conclusion' are used to guide the reader through the argument. However, the flow within paragraphs is sometimes mechanical. For instance, the transition between the discussion of oil prices and the conclusion of the second paragraph is slightly abrupt. Additionally, some referencing is repetitive, such as the frequent use of 'people' and 'choose to travel'. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring smoother transitions between sentences would enhance the overall coherence.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express their ideas clearly. There are some attempts at less common vocabulary, such as 'innate wish', 'affluent', and 'infrastructure'. However, there are also instances of awkward phrasing and word choice, such as 'opt their own country as tourist spots' (should be 'opt for their own country') and 'in-home travelling' (which is not a standard collocation for domestic tourism). The range is sufficient to communicate the message, but it lacks the precision and flexibility required for a higher band score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors. Examples include 'human being has an innate wish' (should be plural 'human beings have'), 'to travel abroad is one of the fantasy' (should be 'fantasies'), and 'they didn't get much left' (should be 'they do not have much left'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with unnecessary commas appearing frequently, such as after 'view that' and 'argue that'. These errors do not impede communication, but they are persistent throughout the text.
