Student answer (Band 6.0)

It is often argued that people should spend their vacations in their own countries rather than travel overseas. Many people are searching for affordable and sustainable tourist spots in their own areas. I agree with this view that individuals will stop visiting abroad in the near future and will consider their home country to spend free time.

First of all, it will be a great opportunity for youngsters to learn more about their own country's cultures. Adolescents these days are spending their weekends travelling alone in local areas. Moreover, some influencers are encouraging the audience to visit hidden spots in their nations. Social media is playing a vital role to influence youngters to have a look at the treasures in their countries. Furthermore, there are some travel bloggers on social media who are making travel easy and fascinating for people.

Another advantage for people to choose their home country is affordable trips without any hectic travel. Countries like India have so many places to travel. There is rich culture in each state of India. For example, people living in Punjab would love to visit Goa at a fraction of the price. Lastly, it is safe to travel in our own country. There is no need for a different ID card to visit places in our own country. There is a lot of news online about foreigners who have gone missing in other countries.

To sum up, people are learning new ways to travel, and they are prioritizing their home countries while travelling.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position in favor of domestic tourism. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While you mention cultural learning and affordability, the arguments remain at a surface level. For instance, the claim that people will 'stop visiting abroad' is a strong generalization that lacks nuance or counter-argument consideration. To reach a higher band, ensure that each paragraph provides a more thorough explanation of why these factors lead to a shift in global travel trends, rather than just listing benefits. The conclusion is also quite brief and does not effectively summarize the main points presented in the body paragraphs.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'First of all', 'Moreover', 'Furthermore', and 'To sum up' to guide the reader. However, the transition between ideas is sometimes mechanical, and the flow within paragraphs could be smoother. For example, the jump from discussing social media influencers to travel bloggers is abrupt. Additionally, some sentences feel disconnected, such as the sudden mention of ID cards in the final body paragraph, which lacks a clear link to the previous sentence about affordability. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring a more cohesive logical progression would enhance the score.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'sustainable', 'fascinating', and 'prioritizing'. However, the range is somewhat limited, and there are instances of slightly unnatural phrasing, such as 'searching for... tourist spots in their own areas' or 'have a look at the treasures'. There are also minor errors in word choice, such as 'youngters' (spelling error) and 'hectic travel', which is a bit informal. To improve, try to incorporate more precise collocations and less common lexical items related to the topic of tourism and economic trends to show greater flexibility and control.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical inaccuracies. For example, 'I agree with this view that individuals will stop visiting abroad' is slightly awkward; 'visiting abroad' should be 'travelling abroad'. There are also minor issues with articles and prepositions, such as 'in our own country' being repeated frequently. While you attempt complex sentences, they are not always error-free. To achieve a higher band, focus on increasing the variety of complex structures and ensuring that subject-verb agreement and article usage are more consistent throughout the text.
