Student answer (Band 6.5)

It is often argued that many people will decide to stay in their own home country for vacation while other think that going abroad is better approach. Although both perspectives have their own merits. This essay will explain both views before explaining why I believe spending holiday in own country is more convincing.

On the one hand, there are several reasons why people support the idea of spending days off in own nation. Firstly, individuals are getting more awareness of hidden places which look more beautiful than foreign destinations. This leads to more frequent visiting to places within home country. This will subsequently results in development of enthusiasm towards own culture and tradition. Lastly, youngsters wants to support their country's government and have strong mindset to keep the money within nation. This will ultimately boost the local economy and overall GDP. For instance, The Indian people has shown a significant growth of about 75% in spending holiday within country which has resulted in visiting the places which was never explore before more frequently.

On the other hand, many people argue that travelling foreign countries for spending vacation is better approach. One of the key point is that exploring novel places will not only assist in exploring new culture and tradition of particular country but also aids in improving the knowledge and history of places. This will lead to spending fruitful holiday with little knowledge and rest. Another notable reason is that people wants to follow the trend from the social influencers lives. This increase social pressure amongst youngsters which force them to visit abroad countries for holidays.

In conclusion, while some people believe that staying within country is better choice others argue in favor of foreign trips. Taking everything in account, I firmly believe that enjoying holiday within home country will support locals and enhance knowledge of own country, making it more practical and beneficial option.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The essay addresses all parts of the prompt and maintains a clear position throughout. The arguments are relevant, such as the economic benefits of domestic tourism and the cultural appeal of foreign travel. However, the development of ideas is somewhat uneven. For instance, the point about 'social influencers' is introduced but not fully explored in terms of its impact on the future trend. While the position is clear, the supporting evidence, such as the statistic regarding Indian tourism, is a bit vague and lacks context. To reach a higher band, ensure that each supporting point is fully explained with more specific reasoning rather than just listing ideas.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the two opposing views. Cohesive devices are present, such as 'Firstly', 'On the one hand', and 'In conclusion', which help guide the reader. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical, and there are minor issues with referencing, such as the phrase 'this will subsequently results in', where the pronoun 'this' refers back to a whole clause but the verb agreement is incorrect. Overall, the progression of ideas is clear, but the flow could be improved with more sophisticated linking phrases.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express their ideas clearly. There are attempts to use topic-specific vocabulary like 'domestic tourism', 'GDP', and 'social influencers'. However, there are several instances of awkward word choice and collocation errors, such as 'spending days off in own nation' (should be 'one's own nation') and 'little knowledge and rest' (which is unclear). The range is sufficient to convey meaning, but the lack of precision and occasional errors in word formation prevent it from reaching a higher band. Focusing on collocations and more natural phrasing would be beneficial.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the writer attempts complex sentences, there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally distract the reader. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('The Indian people has shown', 'youngsters wants', 'this will subsequently results in') and missing articles ('travelling foreign countries', 'within country'). Punctuation is generally acceptable, but the sentence structure is sometimes repetitive. To improve, the writer should focus on basic grammatical accuracy, particularly subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles, before attempting more complex structures.
