Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position in favor of domestic tourism. The ideas are relevant, focusing on economic benefits and job creation. However, the development is somewhat repetitive, as the second and third paragraphs cover similar ground regarding economic growth and employment. To reach a higher band, you should aim to extend your arguments with more varied supporting details or counter-arguments. While the position is clear throughout, the analysis remains somewhat superficial, and the conclusion merely restates the points rather than synthesizing them effectively. The response meets the requirements of the task but lacks the depth of development expected at higher levels.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. You use cohesive devices such as 'Moving towards agreement', 'To elaborate', 'Furthermore', and 'To conclude' to signal transitions. However, some of these devices are used mechanically or slightly inaccurately, such as 'Moving towards agreement' which is not a standard transition phrase. Additionally, referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the phrase 'describe their experience to other people, then it motivates them', where the pronoun 'it' lacks a precise antecedent. The progression of ideas is generally logical, but the flow between sentences could be smoother to improve the overall coherence of the argument.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'notion', 'articulate', 'justification', and 'financially stable'. However, there are frequent errors in word choice and collocation that occasionally impede the natural flow of the text. For example, 'generations people' should be 'people of all generations', and 'prevent abroad traveling' is an awkward collocation. You also struggle with pluralization and article usage, such as 'nation's economy' instead of 'the nation's economy'. While you attempt to use more sophisticated vocabulary, the lack of precision in word choice limits the score. Expanding your range of collocations and focusing on word forms will help improve this area.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, particularly regarding subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'local hospitality spots becomes', 'resources stays') and article usage (e.g., 'in nation's economy'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with some sentences containing comma splices or missing necessary commas. While the meaning is generally clear, these persistent errors in basic grammar and sentence construction prevent the writing from reaching a higher band. To improve, focus on proofreading for subject-verb agreement and ensuring that complex sentences are constructed with correct grammatical subordination.
