Student answer (Band 6.0)

It is believe that Individuals would like to go on holiday in their native country instead of going abroad in the future. I disagree with the notion. This essay will discuss the reasons behind my view along with examples.

To commence with, there are plenty of reasons to support why masses would prefer to go abroad on vacations instead of exploring their own country. Firstly, In this modern era , people lead hectic lives. To break the monotony, they would prefer to go abroad. Furthermore, due to an advancement in technology, there would be chances to travel from one country to another within a few hours. Flights and accommodations may become more affordable. To add to it, some individuals want to explore the culture of other countries. Due to the fact that they would like to travel different nations to explore their traditions. For instance, if we talk about India, if is often seen that many foreigners visit there per year to study their culture and traditions.

Moreover, international places offer attractive destinations which people cannot enjoy at their home country. To add to it, social media plays crucial role to influence the public. Seeing international content on it, encourages the people to visit there.

On the other hand, tourism in domestic country is cheaper. In native country, people are already aware about tradition and language so it is easy for them to explore. Moreover, it takes less time to commute from one place to another.

In conclusion, although it is affordable and easy to travel in domestic country, still going to abroad for holidays will remain popular in the future.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The essay addresses the prompt and maintains a clear position throughout. The arguments are relevant, focusing on the desire for cultural exploration, the impact of technology, and the influence of social media. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the point about social media is mentioned but not fully explained in terms of how it specifically drives international travel. The counter-argument regarding domestic tourism is acknowledged but could have been integrated more effectively into the overall argument to demonstrate a more nuanced perspective. Overall, the response covers all parts of the task, but the depth of analysis is consistent with a mid-range band.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is logically organized into paragraphs, each with a clear focus. Cohesive devices such as 'To commence with', 'Furthermore', 'Moreover', and 'In conclusion' are used to guide the reader. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical, and there are instances where the flow between sentences is a bit disjointed, such as the abrupt shift in the second paragraph when discussing India. Referencing is generally clear, but the logical progression within paragraphs could be improved by better linking the supporting evidence to the main topic sentences. The paragraphing is appropriate for the task.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express their ideas clearly. There is an attempt to use some less common vocabulary, such as 'monotony' and 'hectic lives'. However, there are several instances of awkward word choice and collocation errors, such as 'masses would prefer' (better: 'many people'), 'travel different nations' (should be 'travel to'), and 'at their home country' (should be 'in their home country'). These errors do not impede communication, but they limit the score as the range is not sufficiently flexible or precise for a higher band.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with articles ('the' culture, 'the' future), prepositions ('in' native country), and verb forms ('It is believe' instead of 'It is believed'). There are also some punctuation issues, such as the spacing around commas. While the writer attempts complex sentences, these often contain errors that slightly distract the reader. The majority of the sentences are understandable, but the lack of consistent accuracy in complex structures prevents a higher score.
