Student answer (Band 7.5)

In the future, it is likely that more people will choose to spend their holidays in their own country rather than travelling abroad. I partly agree with this view because domestic tourism has several advantages, although international travel will continue to be popular.

One reason why domestic holidays may become more common is that they are generally cheaper and more convenient. Travelling within one’s own country usually involves shorter journeys, lower transportation costs and fewer formalities, such as obtaining a visa. In addition, people can often discover beautiful places that they have never visited before. For example, India has a wide variety of tourist destinations, including beaches, mountains, historical cities and wildlife parks, so people can enjoy different types of holidays without leaving the country.

However, I believe that many people will still prefer to travel abroad because international holidays provide unique experiences. Visiting another country allows tourists to experience different cultures, taste unfamiliar foods and communicate with people from different backgrounds. Moreover, with the increasing availability of affordable flights and online travel services, travelling overseas is becoming easier for many people. For instance, young adults may choose to visit countries such as Thailand or Malaysia because these destinations offer different cultures and attractive tourist activities.

In conclusion, I agree that domestic tourism is likely to increase because it is convenient and often more affordable. Nevertheless, I do not believe that international travel will decline significantly, as many people will continue to value the opportunity to experience new cultures and countries.
