Student answer (Band 6.0)

In upcoming years, it is assumed that people will prefer to travel and explore domestically rather than travelling internationally. I completely disagree with this stance, as individuals are already familiar with their country's culture and landscape. However, wanderers often want to experience something unique and different.

To commence with, most of individuals have already experienced their landscape and quite famailar with their own culture as well, so they prefer to travel to a completely different locations to explore a new culture and have adventerous experiences of different landscapes and weather conditions. People often want to experience different kind of people and understand their way of living and this is only possible by travelling to such places. For instance, people often fly to Mongolia to experience a Mongolian nomadic lifestyle, where they live in tents on the top of mountains and consume their local food. Moreover, people often travel to different weather to rejuvenate themselves during their vacations and keep them disconnected from daily-life choas.

Furthermore, social media and easy travel process across borders encourage people to travel the world. Nowadays, many travel influencers post content about uniqueness of different places which create curiosity of exploration among the population. Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response presents a clear position against the prompt, but it fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, ending abruptly at 232 words. This significantly impacts the development of ideas, particularly in the final paragraph, which is incomplete. While the main arguments regarding cultural curiosity and the influence of social media are relevant, the lack of a conclusion and the unfinished sentence at the end prevent a full development of the task. To improve, ensure all points are fully expanded and a clear conclusion is provided to summarize the argument.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into paragraphs, and there is a logical progression of ideas. Cohesive devices such as 'To commence with', 'Moreover', and 'Furthermore' are used to link sentences and paragraphs. However, the abrupt ending of the text disrupts the overall coherence. The referencing is generally clear, but the mechanical nature of some transitions could be improved for better flow. The paragraphing is appropriate, but the incomplete final paragraph makes the overall structure feel unfinished.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, with some attempts at less common items like 'rejuvenate', 'nomadic', and 'curiosity'. However, there are several spelling errors, such as 'famailar' instead of 'familiar', 'adventerous' instead of 'adventurous', and 'choas' instead of 'chaos'. These errors do not impede communication, but they do limit the score. To reach a higher band, focus on accurate spelling and more precise collocations, such as 'travel process' which would be better expressed as 'travel logistics' or 'travel infrastructure'.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as 'most of individuals' (should be 'most individuals'), 'different kind of people' (should be 'different kinds of people'), and 'travel to different weather' (which is semantically awkward). While the meaning is generally clear, these persistent errors in subject-verb agreement and word choice prevent a higher score. Increasing the variety of complex structures while ensuring accuracy in basic grammar will help improve this score.
