In the future, more people will choose to go on holiday in their own country and not travel abroad on holiday. Do you agree or disagree?

Student answer (Band 8.0)
In upcoming years, it is assumed that people will prefer to travel and explore domestically rather than travelling internationally. I completely disagree with this stance, as individuals are already familiar with their country's culture and landscape. However, wanderers often want to experience something unique and different which is solely possible by international travel.
To commence with, most individuals have already experienced their landscape and are quite familiar with their own culture, so they prefer to travel to a completely different location to explore a new culture and have an adventurous experience of a different landscape and weather conditions. Travellers often want to experience the different kinds of people and understand their way of living and this is only possible by travelling to such places. For instance, people often fly to Mongolia to experience the Mongolian nomadic lifestyle, where they live in tents on the top of mountains and consume their local food items such as honey and cheese. Moreover, people often travel to different climate to rejuvenate themselves during their vacations and keep themselves disconnected from daily-life chaos.
Furthermore, social media and easy travel process across borders encourage people to travel the world. Nowadays, many travel influencers post content about the lifestyle of different places which sparks curiosity of exploration among the population. Likewise, online booking applications and travel agencies make travel stress-free and affordable. Additionally, in order to boost their economy, many developing nations such as Indonesia and Nepal are not only offering visa-on-arrival but also inviting people from all over the globe to explore their tourist attractions.
To sum up, I believe people in the future will prefer to travel overseas instead of their travelling within their own countries. This is because individuals are already used to living in their home country and want to travel abroad to have a unique social experience. Internet and lenient visa policies make travel convenient, affordable and stress-free.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 8.0
The response fully addresses the prompt by taking a clear position against the idea that domestic tourism will replace international travel. The arguments are well-developed, particularly the focus on the human desire for novelty and the role of digital infrastructure. The example of Mongolia is specific and relevant, effectively supporting the claim that people seek unique cultural experiences. The essay maintains a consistent stance throughout, and the conclusion reinforces the main arguments effectively. The ideas are extended logically, meeting the requirements for a high band score by providing a balanced view of why international travel remains attractive despite the potential for domestic tourism.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 8.0
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, two well-structured body paragraphs, and a summary conclusion. Cohesive devices such as 'To commence with', 'Moreover', 'Furthermore', and 'Likewise' are used effectively to guide the reader through the argument. Paragraphing is used appropriately, with each paragraph focusing on a central theme. The progression of ideas is smooth, moving from the psychological desire for new experiences to the practical facilitators of travel like social media and visa policies. Referencing is clear, and the flow of information is natural throughout the text.
Lexical Resource — Band 7.5
The vocabulary is varied and appropriate for the topic. The student uses a range of topic-specific terms such as 'nomadic lifestyle', 'rejuvenate', 'daily-life chaos', and 'lenient visa policies'. There is evidence of a flexible range, and the word choices are generally precise. While there are no major errors in collocation, the writing could benefit from slightly more sophisticated or idiomatic expressions to reach the highest band. However, the current range is more than sufficient to convey complex ideas clearly and accurately.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 7.5
The essay demonstrates a good command of complex sentence structures, such as the use of conditional-like logic and subordinate clauses (e.g., 'In order to boost their economy, many developing nations... are not only offering... but also inviting...'). The majority of sentences are error-free, and punctuation is handled correctly. There are occasional minor slips, such as 'travel to different climate' (should be 'a different climate') and 'travelling within their own countries' (the 'their' is slightly redundant), but these are non-systematic and do not impede communication. The control over grammar is strong throughout the response.
