Student answer (Band 6.0)
There is an ongoing debate about the future, where people will prefer domestic tourism instead of travelling to abroad. The reason for this trend is to promote local tourism which contributes to economic growth and stability. This essay will discuss different perspectives before explaining why I partially agree with this statement.
On the one hand, people who choose to spend holidays in their own country thinks it is cheap, more convenient and easily accessible. Compared to this travelling abroad is expensive due to airfares, visas and money exhange rate. Moreover, local travelling promotes wellness in the country as well as rich cultural and historical heritage. Governments are investing more in the hospitality sector to attract tourists both local and international. For example, they hire vloggers to visit and explore famous destinations which help people to choose better and affordable options.
On the other hand, travelling abroad offers people to appreciate different ways of living, and share traditions. . People can learn about diversity in cultures and their values which leads to mutual understanding and respect. Although international exposure broadens a person’s worldview, enhances cultural empathy, and fosters personal growth, it is quiet expensive and out of budget for many people.
In conclusion, a balanced approach is required as local travelling brings wellness and support to the community. but foreign travelling fosters new ideas and values. People must be open to both options according to their affordability and convenience.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses the prompt by discussing both domestic and international tourism, but it fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, which negatively impacts the development of ideas. While the position is clear, the arguments regarding economic growth and cultural exchange are somewhat brief and could have been extended with more specific examples or deeper analysis. The conclusion effectively summarizes the balanced view, but the overall development is constrained by the length, leading to a score that reflects the under-length penalty.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Cohesive devices such as 'On the one hand', 'On the other hand', and 'Moreover' are used to guide the reader. However, the flow is occasionally interrupted by minor mechanical issues, such as the double period after 'share traditions.' and the lack of capitalization after the period in the final paragraph. Despite these minor lapses, the progression of ideas is generally logical and easy to follow throughout the text.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express ideas clearly. There are some good collocations like 'economic growth', 'hospitality sector', and 'cultural empathy'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice, such as 'travelling to abroad' (should be 'travelling abroad') and 'money exhange rate' (spelling error). The range is sufficient for the topic but lacks the sophistication or precision required for a higher band score. Improving the variety of synonyms and ensuring correct word forms would enhance the lexical quality.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as subject-verb agreement issues ('people... thinks it is cheap') and incorrect preposition usage ('travelling to abroad'). Punctuation is generally functional, though there are errors like the double period and the lowercase 'but' starting a sentence in the conclusion. While these errors do not significantly impede communication, they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. A greater focus on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy would be beneficial.
