Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position against the statement. However, the development of ideas is limited and often repetitive. While you mention economic impacts and cultural learning, the arguments lack depth and specific evidence. For instance, the point about Thailand is relevant but remains underdeveloped. Furthermore, the response falls short of the 250-word minimum requirement, which negatively impacts the overall task achievement score. To improve, ensure you expand on your points with more detailed explanations and ensure you meet the word count to fully explore the topic.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate, such as the awkward transition 'For intense' instead of 'For instance'. Some sentences are disjointed, and the logical flow between ideas is occasionally interrupted by grammatical errors. The referencing is sometimes unclear, making it difficult to track the progression of your argument. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of linking words correctly and ensure that each paragraph has a clear, singular focus that connects logically to the next.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is generally basic and repetitive. There are several instances of incorrect word choice, such as 'ganarate' (generate) and 'expend' (expand/expenditure confusion). You rely on simple phrasing, which limits your ability to convey complex ideas precisely. While the meaning is generally clear, the lack of variety and the presence of spelling errors prevent a higher score. To improve, try to incorporate more topic-specific vocabulary related to tourism and economics, and pay closer attention to word forms and spelling.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that affect the fluency of the text. Common issues include incorrect verb tenses (e.g., 'Tourism give opportunity'), missing articles, and awkward sentence structures (e.g., 'So i am disagree with this statement'). There is a limited range of complex structures, and the ones attempted often contain errors. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma usage. To improve, focus on mastering basic subject-verb agreement and sentence construction before attempting more complex grammatical forms. Proofreading for simple errors like 'i' vs 'I' is essential.
