IELTS Writing Task 2 question

In the future, more people will choose to go on holiday in their own country and not travel abroad on holiday. Do you agree or disagree?

Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.

 

Student answer (Band 6.5)

It is a contentious topic whether an increasing number of individuals will decide to travel their own country to go on holiday or more people will travel internationally to unwind from their working schedules or for spending some quality time with families. I agree with the formal viewpoint that large portion of generation will travel their home country because of the education they gain related to environmental impacts of international travel and to keep their budget maintained for future expenses.

One of the major reasons people will travel locally is the education. In the modern world, generations are aware of the environment effects of international flights as it fosters pollution and deforestation to build airports which negatively impact the ecosystem as well as human lives. More and more people are feeling difficulties in breathing due to pollution, discovering skin allergies, and less supply of oxygen due to cutting of forests. Therefore, many educational institutions are educating people to take initiatives and guiding them to save their surroundings. People will definitely decide to travel locally to know about different traditions, cultures, and trends which would not only precures environment but would allow them to broaden their knowledge. To exemplify, many non profit organizations in the Europe has initiated campaigning to make generations aware about benefits of travelling local areas so that they can eradicate pollution concern from their country.

Another reason of planning holiday in their own country is price. People pay huge amounts of money just to relax for a few days which create burden for other essential expenses after the trip. Everybody is working diligently to earn extraordinary profits, better standard of life, and to fulfill their daily needs; whereas, for arranging trips internationally they end up paying for expensive flights, hotel or accommodation rentals and food that they do not like. They get financial pressure when they have to pay for their utilities, groceries and other house expenses. For example, individuals work 24x7 to earn money only one international flight which costs thousands of dollars makes them mentally upset as they need to work extra to save that money again. So people will plan to take local holiday staycations instead to save some money for future.
