Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position in favor of domestic tourism. The ideas regarding economic growth and currency stability are relevant and logically linked to the topic. However, the development is somewhat limited. For instance, the example regarding the Taj Mahal is slightly inaccurate (it is in Agra, not Delhi), and the explanation of how domestic tourism supports the economy could be more nuanced. While the position is consistent throughout, the supporting arguments rely on somewhat repetitive points about currency and economic benefits. To reach a higher band, you should provide more varied examples or explore other aspects, such as environmental benefits or cultural preservation, to fully develop your argument.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'To commence with', 'In addition', and 'In conclusion', which help guide the reader. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly awkward, such as starting sentences with 'To elaborate this' or 'which is also eight wonder of world'. Additionally, there are issues with punctuation and sentence boundaries, such as the fragmented sentence 'which is situated in Agra, Delhi. which is also eight wonder of world.' These errors occasionally disrupt the flow of ideas, preventing a higher score.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express their opinion clearly. There are attempts to use topic-specific vocabulary like 'economical growth', 'local business', and 'international market'. However, there are several instances of awkward word choice and collocation errors, such as 'planning trip to out of country', 'declining their vacation tour', and 'add on heavy value'. Spelling errors like 'strenghten' also occur. The range is sufficient to communicate the main points, but the lack of precision and the presence of errors in word formation limit the score to the 6.0 band.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with articles ('the Taj Mahal', 'the eight wonder'), subject-verb agreement, and sentence fragments. For example, 'which resulted in declination of indian rupees' is a dependent clause used as a full sentence. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with periods often placed incorrectly between clauses. While the writer attempts complex structures, the high frequency of errors in basic grammar and punctuation indicates that the control is not yet consistent enough for a higher band.
