In the future, more people will choose to go on holiday in their own country and not travel abroad on holiday. Do you agree or disagree?
Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.
Student answer (Band 6.5)
People will be choosing their home country to spend their vacation on, in the coming years, has become one of the main topic of debate. Travelling abroad requires a lot of pre-planning which consume hours of personal time. Also, there are chances that it may not reward them with the happiness as per their expectations. To avoid such risk and choosing convenience over hustle, I totally agree that people will choose their home country over any foreign destination.
The main reason behind this, will be the cost associated with travelling abroad. Individuals like to use their time-off of work to relax and mental well-being. Doing so requires staying at the expensive hotels and flying above the economy class. Moreover, the food options at these locations costs more than usual to satisfy their standard of living and overall presentations.
In addition, the feeling of not meeting their expectations after reaching at any foreign location, will make them question their judgement on the spending choices. In some cases, they may even run over of their budget and end up spending more than expected. For instance, in some unfortunate situations like in need of a medical assistance. Lastly, especially for the families with financial responsibilities, will decide to choose options which gives them a holiday with less planning and within their budget. Hence, they will choose to go somewhere in their nation, where the struggle to plan ahead, learning new language and struggling to find a suitable food options are directly eliminated.
To conclude, the foreign trips offer various adventures, life-long memories and experiences. The exposure to the local communication, culture and food options too. However, this often end up more tiring and exhausting. That's why, in terms of convenience, cheaper option and relaxation over hustle to fit in, I totally agree with the fact that people will avoid going abroad during their holidays in upcoming years.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
You have clearly addressed the prompt and maintained a consistent position throughout the essay. The ideas regarding cost, convenience, and the stress of international travel are relevant and well-supported. However, some points are slightly under-developed; for instance, the mention of medical assistance is a good example but could have been linked more explicitly to the broader argument of 'risk'. To reach a higher band, ensure that every paragraph directly supports the central thesis without introducing tangential ideas. Overall, the response is well-focused and meets the requirements of the task effectively.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. You use cohesive devices such as 'Moreover', 'In addition', and 'To conclude' to transition between ideas. However, some of the linking is slightly mechanical, and there are instances where the flow is interrupted by awkward phrasing, such as 'In some cases, they may even run over of their budget'. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate distinct arguments. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of cohesive devices and ensuring that the relationship between sentences is always smooth and natural.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'convenience', 'expectations', and 'financial responsibilities'. There are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'run over of their budget' (should be 'run over their budget') and 'flying above the economy class' (should be 'flying in a higher class'). Additionally, 'hustle' is used in a slightly informal way. While these errors do not impede communication, they prevent the essay from reaching a higher band. Try to incorporate more precise academic collocations to enhance the sophistication of your writing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement and preposition usage, such as 'People will be choosing... has become' and 'reaching at any foreign location'. Some sentences are also slightly fragmented or awkward in their construction. To improve, focus on proofreading for basic subject-verb agreement and ensuring that complex sentences are constructed with correct syntax. Increasing the frequency of error-free sentences will significantly improve your score in this criterion.
