IELTS Writing Task 2 question
In the future, more people will choose to go on holiday in their own country and not travel abroad on holiday. Do you agree or disagree?
Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.
Student answer (Band 6.0)
There is an ongoing debate regarding whether public will prefer to go on vacation in their own country rather than visit other countries In the forthcoming times. Although both the views have their own merits. I believe that, individuals would select to visit their nations first. My inclination is elaborated further in the ensuing paragraphs and relevant examples.
The compelling reason is the expense of airline tickets. During vacation periods, everyone wants to travel to another places and this creates demand for international transports such as airlines, and because of peak season, people have to pay more than the original price. Resulting in a waste of money. Therefore, people are more likely to consider that instead of expense in flight, they might get more luxuries in the same budget. For instance, a person who wish to visit beach in abroad can find same beach in their own country where he or she can enjoy in a low budget.
Another reason to justify my stand is that, various obstacles to face on new place. when people travel to other place they might not familiar with the place and people, which can be unfamiliar for some people. Because person may never try an international trip and may not aware of rules of other country such as providing seat to senior citizens or not take the picture of surroundings if person suspect they might consider you as a threat and complain the police station which can turn their trip into sadness moment.
However, some people counter claim the mention support they believe that visiting other nations can provides you new experience of culture by meeting new people and have conversation with them It can be worth you expensive ticket.
In conclude, While visiting different nations can providing new experience and cultural knowledge. I believe that person should explore the place in their country.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses the prompt and maintains a clear position throughout. The arguments regarding cost and cultural familiarity are relevant, though the development of the second point is somewhat anecdotal and lacks depth. The example provided about 'taking pictures' and 'police stations' is a bit extreme and not entirely logical, which limits the persuasiveness of the argument. To reach a higher band, ensure that ideas are supported with more balanced and realistic reasoning. The conclusion is present but could be more effectively linked to the main body paragraphs to reinforce the overall stance.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear progression of ideas. However, the use of cohesive devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly awkward, such as 'Resulting in a waste of money' (a sentence fragment) and 'In conclude'. Referencing is generally clear, but some transitions between sentences feel abrupt. The paragraphing is appropriate, but the internal flow within paragraphs could be improved by using a wider variety of linking words to connect ideas more fluidly rather than relying on simple sentence starters.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks the precision and flexibility required for higher bands. There are several instances of awkward phrasing, such as 'forthcoming times' instead of 'the near future' and 'sadness moment' instead of 'an unpleasant experience'. While the student attempts to use topic-specific vocabulary like 'international transports' and 'cultural knowledge', the collocations are often slightly off. The range is sufficient to convey meaning, but the lack of sophisticated or idiomatic language keeps the score in the mid-range.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the flow. Common issues include subject-verb agreement ('a person who wish'), article usage ('visit beach in abroad'), and sentence fragments ('Resulting in a waste of money'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma usage and run-on sentences. While the meaning is generally clear, the frequency of these errors prevents the writing from reaching a higher level of accuracy. Focusing on basic sentence construction and proofreading for subject-verb agreement would be highly beneficial.
