Student answer (Band 6.0)

Travelling has been becoming more frquent nowadays due to advancement in transport technolgy: bullet trains, non-stop flights and cruise etc. It is believed by many people that in near future more people will go to stay in their home country rather than choosing different country. I strongly agree with spending holidays at own country is rapidly incresing. In the upcoming paragraphs i shall discuss the reason behind this phenomena.

To commence with, on account of rapid industrialization huge job market opens door for the many working people. Seeking for a bettter future these people travelling to different country for a work. Moreover, they are staying away from home for longer period of time which ultimately encourage them to visit their home country at some intervals. For an instance, Connect-tour and travel agency conducted survey of people visiting different countries vs. people visiting their own country for vacation. Majority of the people were visiting their home country after their busy life in abroad.

Furthermore, every 8 out of 10 students are working or studying abroad or planning to move foreign country for a better future. After staying so long in a foreign country for a work or study everyone is eagerly waiting for holidays to return back in their own country to take care of their loved ones. Therefore, in upcoming years, more and more people will prefer to visit their home country in their leisure time as they are already living abroad.

All in all, trend of woking abroad will surge in future which will eventually lead people to work in different countries and hence, people will choose to spend their vacation in their home country.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. The argument relies heavily on the premise that people working abroad will naturally return home for holidays, which is a valid point but is repeated rather than expanded upon with diverse perspectives. The essay would benefit from considering other factors, such as the rising cost of international travel or the growing popularity of 'staycations' due to environmental concerns, to provide a more comprehensive discussion. The conclusion is consistent with the introduction, maintaining a clear stance throughout.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear central topic. Cohesive devices such as 'To commence with', 'Moreover', and 'Furthermore' are used to link ideas, although some transitions feel slightly mechanical. The progression of ideas is generally clear, though the connection between the rise of industrialization and the specific choice of holiday destination could be more explicitly articulated to improve the flow of the argument. Referencing is generally clear, and the paragraphing is appropriate for the length of the response.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks variety and precision. There are several spelling errors, such as 'frquent', 'technolgy', 'incresing', and 'woking', which are distracting. While the student attempts to use topic-specific vocabulary like 'industrialization' and 'leisure time', the range is somewhat limited. To reach a higher band, the student should focus on using more sophisticated collocations and ensuring accurate spelling of common academic terms. The repetition of phrases like 'better future' and 'foreign country' also limits the lexical score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with articles ('the' missing before 'near future', 'the' missing before 'different country') and verb forms ('travelling to different country for a work'). Punctuation is generally functional, but there are errors in sentence construction, such as 'I strongly agree with spending holidays at own country is rapidly incresing', which is syntactically awkward. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they occur frequently enough to impact the overall fluency of the writing.
