IELTS Writing Task 2 question
In the future, more people will choose to go on holiday in their own country and not travel abroad on holiday. Do you agree or disagree?
Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.
Student answer (Band 6.5)
Travel across countries has been rising alarmingly day by day among people. It ha always been debatable whether individuals will be more inclined to enjoy their vacations in their own nation or in other countries. I strongly disagree with the notion that people will choose their own nations instead of traveling abroad due to more affordability of tour packages and more exposure to international cultures.
One prime reason why I believe that people will perceive less travel in their nation is because these days everybody is obsessed with the expenditure being as less as possible on their holidays. Tour packages are highly influencing people decisions in regard to where they want their trip to. For example, if Indians would like to visit Goa or somewhere near Mumbai, travel agents give them the option of spending the same amount of money and visiting the Burj Khalifa instead, which sounds like convincing to them. This prospective could portray them to see the bigger picture in less budget.
Another aspect is that there can be some exceptions, however there are a significant amount of travelers who are keen to learn more about different cultures, religions, languages, and many more which have created an enigma in investing more in international trips across the globe. When they see another nationalities get involved in the community, this gives an immense knowledge about other perspectives. To exemplify, traveling across countries have assisted a lot in evolving more and build a happy, and productive society.
To conclude, I am in complete denial that masses will not do international visits during their holiday seasons because this transcends the community to be more aware of distinct nations' familiarity, and tourism has made this cost-effective too.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The response addresses all parts of the prompt and maintains a clear position throughout. You have provided relevant reasons, such as the affordability of international travel and the desire for cultural exposure, to support your disagreement with the premise. The ideas are generally well-developed, though the explanation in the second paragraph regarding the 'bigger picture' could be more precise. The conclusion effectively restates your stance. To reach a higher band, ensure that your supporting examples are more clearly linked to the main argument, as the transition between the cost-effectiveness of travel and the cultural benefits could be more seamless.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and conclusion. You use cohesive devices such as 'One prime reason', 'Another aspect', and 'To exemplify' to guide the reader. However, some of the referencing is slightly mechanical, and there are instances where the flow between sentences is a bit disjointed, such as in the second paragraph where the link between travel agents and the 'bigger picture' is somewhat abrupt. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate distinct ideas, which helps the overall readability of the response.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, including terms like 'inclined', 'expenditure', 'prospective', and 'transcends'. There are some minor inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'in complete denial' (which usually implies refusing to accept a fact rather than holding an opinion) and 'this prospective could portray them to see'. Additionally, 'many more' is a bit vague. While these errors do not impede communication, they prevent the essay from reaching a higher band. Focusing on more precise collocations would improve your score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as 'It ha always been' (typo), 'people decisions' (missing possessive), 'where they want their trip to' (missing verb), and 'another nationalities' (pluralization error). While you attempt complex structures, the accuracy is inconsistent. The majority of your sentences are understandable, but the frequency of these minor errors indicates that you have not yet achieved the level of control required for a higher band. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and correct preposition usage will be beneficial.
