Student answer (Band 6.5)

There is a widespread belief that in upcoming decades growing number of people will prefer to travel domestically over international trips . I firmly disagree with the prediction as technological advancements have allowed international trips to be more affordable, while exposure to different culture, food, and places provides invaluable experience to the travelers.

The primary reason why people was preferring domestic trips because it was more affordable. However, recent advancements in transportation systems, particularly in the airlines, have allowed people to travel to international destinations at almost the same cost, due to which in future individuals will choose international travel spot for their holiday trip. Moreover, social media has also influenced traveler to explore international places. The beautiful pictures and travel blogs of picturesque destinations uploaded by foreigners on internet create desire among other people ,who are looking for good travel spot, to consider international places. As a result increasing number of people will choose to explore international spots.

Additionally, exposure to new culture, food, and places creates invaluable experience and memories. When people choose to explore new international places they get to meet new people, learn about new culture and try their traditional food, which domestic trips often lacks. For example when travelers travel to countries like Bali, USA, Canada they get to learn about the different culture, try new food, explore new places and create invaluable memories, as a result people will prefer to travel internationally.

To conclude, affordable travel expenses and influence of social media along with unique experience of knowing new cultures, places and trying new food will attract considerable people to travel abroad on holiday in foreseeable future instead to their own country.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response clearly addresses the prompt and maintains a consistent position throughout. You have provided relevant arguments regarding affordability, social media influence, and the cultural benefits of international travel. The ideas are extended with examples, such as mentioning specific destinations like Bali, USA, and Canada. To reach a higher band, you could further develop the counter-argument by acknowledging why some might prefer domestic travel before refuting it more robustly, which would add more depth to your analysis. Overall, the task is well-addressed with a clear, logical progression of ideas.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each focusing on a distinct aspect of the argument. You use cohesive devices such as 'Moreover', 'Additionally', and 'To conclude' to link your ideas effectively. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical, and there are minor issues with referencing, such as the phrase 'due to which in future individuals will choose international travel spot', which is slightly awkward. Improving the flow between sentences and ensuring that pronouns clearly refer back to their antecedents would enhance the overall coherence of the piece.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'technological advancements', 'picturesque', and 'invaluable experience'. There are some instances of slightly unnatural collocations or word choices, such as 'considerable people' instead of 'a considerable number of people' and 'travel spot' which is a bit informal. While the vocabulary is sufficient to convey your meaning clearly, incorporating more precise academic collocations and avoiding repetitive phrasing would help you achieve a higher score in this criterion.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While your meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical errors that persist throughout the text. For example, 'people was preferring' (subject-verb agreement), 'domestic trips often lacks' (subject-verb agreement), and 'influence of social media' (missing article). Additionally, there are minor punctuation errors and issues with article usage (e.g., 'in upcoming decades'). While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and article usage will significantly improve your accuracy.
