In the future, more people will choose to go on holiday in their own country and not travel abroad on holiday. Do you agree or disagree?

Student answer (Band 6.5)
It is often argued that an increasing number of people prefer to spend their holidays in their own country rather than travel abroad. I agree with this viewpoint because domestic tour is cheaper and convenient than international tour. I'll articulate supportive reasons in the following paragraphs.
Firstly, the primary reason of why people choose domestic travel is that it is more economic than the international tourism. In recent years, flight rates are increased massively therefore, most of the population cannot afford the expenses of travelling abroad. As a result, they prefer to go for a country tour. For instance, In India, middle class families always go for domestic tour in vacation rather than travelling abroad as they are not capable to handle tour and travel expenses.
Secondly, another reason is domestic tour is more convenient. Professionals are not getting sufficient vacation days to spend their time with the family and go for international travel. Adding to that, travelling abroad consume a couple of days depending on the availability of flights and weather condition. This is the main reason why most of the population plan for domestic tour during holidays as they don't want to waste their time in travelling. For example,
Thirdly, local governments are promoting and investing in country tourism to preserve cultural values. Moreover, parents wants their children to learn about their own country's different cultures and values. For instance, Indian parents always prefer to travel domestically such as visit to Taj Mahal, Temples, and other cultural places. By doing that, they want their children to learn about the importance of the various historical places.
In conclusion, there are several breathtaking historical and modern places all over the world; however, most of the population travel domestically on holidays because its is cheaper, convenient, and they want to preserve and learn about their own culture.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses all parts of the prompt and maintains a clear position throughout. The arguments regarding cost, convenience, and cultural education are relevant and supported by examples. However, the development is somewhat uneven; the second paragraph ends abruptly without completing the example, and the third paragraph relies on generalisations about Indian parents. To reach a higher band, ensure that every example is fully explained and linked back to the main argument. The ideas are generally well-developed, but the lack of depth in the second example prevents a higher score.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is logically organised into clear paragraphs, each with a distinct focus. The use of cohesive devices such as 'Firstly', 'Secondly', 'Thirdly', and 'In conclusion' provides a clear structure. However, the flow is occasionally mechanical, and some transitions between sentences feel slightly repetitive. Referencing is generally clear, though the abrupt ending of the second paragraph disrupts the logical progression. Overall, the information is arranged coherently, and the paragraphing is used appropriately to guide the reader through the argument.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express ideas clearly. There is an attempt to use topic-specific vocabulary such as 'domestic tourism', 'international travel', and 'cultural values'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'domestic tour' (should be 'domestic tourism' or 'domestic travel') and 'economic' (should be 'economical'). The range is sufficient to convey meaning, but it lacks the precision and flexibility required for higher bands. More varied and sophisticated vocabulary would enhance the quality of the response.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement ('flight rates are increased', 'parents wants') and article usage ('the international tourism'). Punctuation is generally functional, but there are minor errors that persist throughout the text. While the writer attempts complex sentences, the control over them is inconsistent. To improve, focus on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy and ensuring consistent verb forms and pluralisation.
