Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, which significantly impacts the development of ideas. While you attempt to address the prompt, the position is not clearly maintained throughout the essay. The final paragraph is incomplete and lacks a coherent conclusion, leaving the argument underdeveloped. To improve, you must ensure each body paragraph provides a clear, supported argument that directly relates to your stance. The current length and lack of depth in your reasoning prevent a higher score, as the task is only partially addressed.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay shows some attempt at organization through paragraphing, but the flow of ideas is frequently interrupted by disjointed sentences and a lack of logical progression. Cohesive devices are used sparingly and sometimes incorrectly, such as the abrupt transition in the final paragraph. The referencing is occasionally unclear, making it difficult for the reader to follow your line of reasoning. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of linking words (e.g., 'furthermore', 'consequently', 'in contrast') to connect your ideas more fluidly and ensure each paragraph has a clear topic sentence.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is generally limited and repetitive. You rely on basic terms like 'vacation' and 'holiday' throughout the text. There are also issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'put a lot logistics in order' and 'make improve your knowledge'. While the meaning is generally conveyed, the lack of precision and the use of simple, everyday language restrict the score. To reach a higher band, try to incorporate more topic-specific vocabulary related to travel, tourism, and economic factors, and work on using words in their correct collocations.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Common issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'travelling to another country for holiday make you'), missing articles, and punctuation errors. The sentence structure is often fragmented, particularly in the final paragraph where the thought is left unfinished. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction and proofreading for common errors like missing 's' on plural nouns and correct verb forms. Increasing the variety of complex sentences will also help improve your score.
