IELTS Writing Task 2 question

In the future, more people will choose to go on holiday in their own country and not travel abroad on holiday. Do you agree or disagree?

Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.

 

Student answer (Band 6.0)

Nowadays, it can be seen that people are travelling in their own country rather than going to abroad for a vacation. I feel that, it is a positive trend and I am agree that people will do travel more in their country in future as well.

People are considering the budget and time while planning the vacation. As a results, they find visiting to different places in own country is more beneficial rather than an international trip. For example, if someone wants to go abroad, It requires huge amount for travel expense. Moreover, they cannot explore more places in the short time period. On the other hand, they can utilize more time and less budget trips in their home country.

The another reason is that, now, people are aware about various hidden gems of their country. These days, people are posting the various short content through social media, which attract the tourism in the country. For example, I get to know different places and sports activities from the applications like Instagram and Youtube shorts, within the range of around 100 kilometres, and I was not aware that such places are exists around my city. Apart from that, different places or geography has their own culture. Sometimes, people do not know about various cultures of their own country. Therefore, domestic trips can help them to some extent.

In conclusion, travelling in the own country is beneficial to a great extent in terms of budget, utilization of time and explore the various cultures of the country.

The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully incorporating topic-related terms such as 'budget', 'international trip', 'hidden gems', and 'domestic trips'. There are noticeable attempts to use less common vocabulary, though this is sometimes accompanied by word-choice errors or awkward collocations, such as 'going to abroad' instead of 'going abroad' and 'short content' instead of 'short-form content'. Spelling is generally accurate, and while these lexical errors and minor awkward phrasings occur, they do not impede communication.
