Student answer (Band 6.5)
It is often argued that local travel will be the new preferred option among individuals, whereas others maintain that international travel is still the top choice as this can be more exciting and engaging. While both points are understandable to some extent, I am firmly of the opinion that traveling in home country is better, due to practicality and safety reasons.
One of the most compelling reasons why I agree that local travel will be the new trend is because travellers are opting for more affordable options. This is largely because they are starting to realize that they can still enjoy their holiday without leaving the country, which can consequently enables them to allocate the money save on internatioanal travel to other basic and essential necessities, such as education and healthcare. By choosing to spend holiday in their home country, people does not have to pay international taxes as they would normally do when travelling abroad. Additionally, they do not have to go through an ordeal, in case of a security emergency abroad. For example, during a person's visit to a country, the government decided to declare a martial law and borders are closed immediately, putting visitors lives at risk since they are only allowed in to stay in for a specific period of time, thereby leaves them in a dangerpus situation wherein they have to do spend additional amount of money for their extended stay without so much guarantee of theor safety.
On the other hand, others would prefer to spend their vacation abroad. This is due to the fact that international travel offer them once-in-a-lifetime -experience, thus makes their life more exciting. For example, there are tourists attractions that can only be find in another country. Another signifcant factor about interational travel is its educational benefits, which can consequently increase people's awareness about a country, its people, and its culture. In fact, travelling abroad can widen a person's perspective in life. For instance, when an individual visit another country, they can ecounter various types of people with different experiences in life that can help them realize that there is more to life than what they already know.
In conclusion, although both views have their own justifications, I maintain my position that people spending holdiays in their own country will increase because their priority is the costs associated with the travel and unforeseen circumstances that might negatively affect them. If more people choose to travel in their country, it is more likely that they can have more funds in case of emergency.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The response addresses all parts of the task, presenting a clear position throughout in favor of domestic travel. Main ideas are extended and supported, such as the economic benefits of saving money on international trips and avoiding security risks abroad. The arguments are relevant and well-developed, though the example regarding martial law is slightly convoluted and extended, showing a minor tendency to over-generalize. Nevertheless, the main thesis is maintained effectively from the introduction through to the conclusion, satisfying the criteria for Band 7.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is logically organized with a clear progression throughout. Each paragraph has a distinct focus: introduction, economic/safety arguments for domestic travel, counter-arguments for international travel, and conclusion. Cohesive devices are used reasonably well, such as 'On the other hand' and 'In conclusion', though some referencing and connective phrasing are a bit mechanical ('One of the most compelling reasons why I agree that local travel will be the new trend is because...'). Paragraphing is used sufficiently and appropriately, resulting in a solid Band 6.5 performance that leans toward Band 7.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The student demonstrates an adequate and flexible range of vocabulary suitable for the task, utilizing terms such as 'practicality', 'compelling reasons', 'unforeseen circumstances', and 'once-in-a-lifetime-experience'. However, there are noticeable word-choice and collocation errors throughout the text, including 'traveling in home country' (instead of 'in their home country'), 'money save' (instead of 'money saved'), and 'dangerpus' (a spelling error). Despite these inaccuracies, communication is not impeded, placing the response firmly at Band 6.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The student attempts a good mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating some control over multi-clause structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement ('people does not have to pay') and verb forms ('leaves them in a dangerpus situation wherein they have to do spend additional amount'). Punctuation and article usage also exhibit minor slips. These errors do not impede overall communication, but they restrict the score to Band 6 due to their frequency.
