Student answer (Band 5.5)

In the coming years, people prefer to spend their leisure time in their home country as compare to explore abroad. I am comletely agree with this statement. I will discuss in below.

Firstly, daily house hold expenses will be increasing day by day which impact on the coming years, people will not have much savings for their future. As a result they prefer to live in their own country. Secondly, nowadays people are scary to choose the air travel and they will not have any plan to explore the different sites of world. For instances, I saw latest news, unfortunately the airplane of air India was exploded and all of the passanger including two pilots died.

Moreover, most of the students will have pre plan in their vacations, they prefer to go for camping with their families or friends inside the country. Because they will think it is budget friendly and they explore the nature rather then wasting a money and time in air fare and travelling from one country to another.

Additionally, most of the families have single child and they will not want any adventure in their life. They know the value of life. Mostly, people live in the joint families with their grand parents and they have some health issues such as high blood pressure, sugar or allergy from air or flour. And they will maintain their life to live inside their place.

In conclusion, people have to explore their area, where they live and grew up. So, they should save money for their kids as well as in their future life.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position that more people will holiday in their home country in the future. The ideas presented, such as rising household expenses, safety concerns regarding air travel, and budget-friendly camping alternatives, are relevant to the topic. However, some arguments, such as the single child and joint families with specific medical issues, are somewhat tangential or under-developed in relation to the main theme of domestic versus international tourism. While a position is stated throughout the response, the support lacks full extension and relies on somewhat weak generalisations and overly specific anecdotes. This performance aligns best with the Band 6 descriptors, as all parts of the task are addressed, but certain ideas remain under-developed or lack robust elaboration.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay displays a generally coherent overall arrangement with a clear attempt to structure ideas into paragraphs. Logical connectors such as 'Firstly', 'Secondly', 'Moreover', 'Additionally', and 'In conclusion' are used to signpost the sequence of points, though some of these cohesive devices feel rather mechanical or overused. Paragraphing is utilised, although the paragraphs tend to be short and choppy. Referencing is occasionally unclear, as seen in phrases like 'And they will maintain their life to live inside their place', which obscure the logical progression between sentences. Overall, the organization is sufficient to guide the reader through the text, but the management of cohesion prevents it from reaching a higher band. This represents a solid Band 6 performance.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, touching upon relevant themes like leisure time, expenses, and safety. There are several attempts to use less common vocabulary, such as 'budget friendly', 'leisure time', and 'joint families', but these are accompanied by noticeable inaccuracies in word choice, spelling, and collocation. For instance, 'comletely' contains a spelling error, 'house hold' should be a single word, and phrases like 'people are scary' instead of 'people are scared' or 'fearful' demonstrate flawed word formation. Furthermore, 'wasting a money' contains an unnecessary article. While these lexical errors do not completely impede communication, they restrict the vocabulary score to a Band 5.5, reflecting a limited but minimally adequate range with frequent slips.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response features a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, though complex structures are frequently faulty or awkward. There are numerous grammatical errors throughout the text, including tense inconsistencies and subject-verb agreement issues, such as 'daily house hold expenses will be increasing day by day which impact' and 'mostly, people live'. Punctuation is also problematic in places, with sentence fragments like 'I will discuss in below' and run-on structures. Although the meaning can generally be extracted, the frequent errors in grammar and punctuation cause some difficulty for the reader and prevent the text from achieving a Band 6. Therefore, a Band 5.0 is appropriate, reflecting an attempt at complex sentences that are often faulty alongside frequent errors.
