Student answer (Band 5.5)

It has been observed that in the future, people will choose to go on a holiday trip in their own country rather than preferring to travel to abroad.

There has been a significant rise in the amount of people visiting the local holiday spots across the country. India has a wide range of biodiversity across its borders. The speciality of its beauty is that each state has its own uniqueness to offer to visitors. The northern most part of India, Kashmir accomodates the Leh lake and the national borders to China and Pakistan are interesting locations that are must to visit.

The Eastern part of India holds the beautiful Himalayas crossing the North-Eastern border. It is pleasant to watch the glaciers falling off the mountains and the snow deers running across them. It also accomodates to some of the spritually connected monks who are very common in the Himalayas.

The Southern part of India holds the beautiful coastal areas where we can observe the marine life. The boating culture and the boat races conducted annually is a spectacular watch among the visitors. The South Indian cuisine is also a major factor which is responsible for attracting visitors across the country.

In my perspective, I agree that more and more people should give importance to the tourism in our country. This will increase the development of tourism in our country leading to the overall placement of our country in the global tourism charts, thereby allowing more international visitors across the globe to visit India in the future.

I would love to visit the Taj mahal any day in the future without getting bored for any reason. The structural integral is the main reason to why it is called as the Wonder of the world. I call upon all the people of our country to visit this marvel in the near future.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt by discussing the potential of domestic tourism, specifically focusing on India across different regions. A clear position is stated in the conclusion agreeing with the trend. However, the development of ideas tends to be descriptive rather than argumentative. Instead of directly debating whether people will increasingly choose domestic holidays over international ones in the future, the essay reads more like a promotional travel guide detailing various parts of India, such as Kashmir and the Himalayas. While relevant examples are provided, the core prompt regarding future consumer choices and the comparison with international travel is only partially explored and somewhat underdeveloped. Therefore, the task response aligns with a Band 6.0.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay has a recognisable overall structure with an introduction, several body paragraphs focusing on geographical regions, and a conclusion. However, the logical progression is at times disrupted by abrupt transitions between paragraphs. For instance, moving from the northern region to the eastern and southern regions feels like a list of tourist attractions rather than a cohesive argument. Paragraphing is used, but some paragraphs are quite short or lack clear topic sentences linking back to the main prompt. Cohesive devices are used, but referencing is occasionally repetitive or mechanical (e.g., repeating phrases like 'The Northern most part of India', 'The Eastern part of India', 'The Southern part of India'). This places the cohesion at a Band 6.0 level.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The student demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary suitable for the task, successfully using terms like 'biodiversity', 'spectacular', and 'cuisine'. There are, however, several word-choice errors, awkward collocations, and minor spelling or phrasing issues throughout the text. Examples include 'travel to abroad' (unnecessary preposition), 'accomodates' (spelling and usage error), 'spritually connected monks' (spelling and collocation error), and 'structural integral' (incorrect form, likely meaning structural integrity). These inaccuracies do not completely impede communication, but they restrict the lexical score to a Band 6.0, as the writer attempts less common vocabulary with notable slips.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, incorporating relative clauses and participial phrases, such as 'which is responsible for attracting visitors' and 'thereby allowing more international visitors'. However, grammatical errors are frequent enough to draw attention. There are issues with subject-verb agreement and article usage, such as 'the Taj mahal' (capitalisation), 'in the amount of people' (should be 'number'), and prepositional errors like 'choose to go on a holiday trip in their own country rather than preferring to travel to abroad'. While these errors rarely completely obscure the intended meaning, they prevent the essay from achieving a higher band, placing it firmly at a Band 6.0.
