IELTS Writing Task 2 question

In the future, more people will choose to go on holiday in their own country and not travel abroad on holiday. Do you agree or disagree?

Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.

 

Student answer (Band 7.0)

In today's world, international trips are very popular among different societies. However, several individuals believe that people will choose to explore their own country in the future instead of going abroad for vacations. From my perspective, I strongly agree with this statement. This essay will examine this point of view in the upcoming paragraphs.

To begin with, people will choose their own nations for their family trips in the future as it is more affordable and convenient. Touring in local destinations has lower transportation and accommodation cost because, there will be no need to obtain a visa or book expensive flights for traveling. For instance, a family living in Canada can visit Banf and Niagara to spend their quality time with their loved ones without spending thousands on an overseas trip.

In addition to this, social media platforms like Tik-Tok, Instagram or Youtube plays a vital role in promoting content related to unusual local destinations such as historical places, beaches, parks or traditional places. Therefore, it helps people to discover their own culture and traditions in depth. Apart from this, local tourism also supports local restaurants, hotels or shops which automatically boosts the economic growth of a country and may encourage authorities to improve transportations and tourist facilities.

To conclude, there is no doubt that international outings will remain popular, but domestic tourism can become increasingly common because of it's affordability and greater convenience. Not only this provides opportunity to residents to spend their quality time with their families without thinking about their financial health conditions but it also boosts the local economic growth.

The student uses a sufficient range of vocabulary for the task, demonstrating some flexibility and precision with terms like "affordable and convenient," "transportation and accommodation cost," and "economic growth." Less common vocabulary items are attempted, such as "unusual local destinations" and "traditional places." There are, however, a few noticeable word-choice and punctuation errors, such as spelling "Banf" instead of Banff, and a minor error in punctuation with "it's" instead of "its".
