Student answer (Band 5.5)

Traveling is the most popular activity in today's world. Some people believe that International trips can be replaced by local travel experience. I agreewith this statement because of some advantages and will discuss my viewpoint in upcoming paragraphs.

To begin with, traveling in own country is the lower in cost. Domestic travel usually involve cheaper transportation, accommodation and families can save their money and enjoy their trip in good way. People can use their own cars, buses and local transportation to explore their own country. In addition to it, traveling in own country can save time because their is no need to apply for a visa, and spend so much time on international flights. For examples, Canadian people prefer to spend their summer vacation at different beaches, parks and do other activities in their own country rather than traveling.

Furthermore, social media is the main factor to increase the domestic travel. People use to post their experience, posts and videos on the internet platforms and through that different people got attracted. Moreover, government tried to build more national parks, tourist spots and more attractive things in their own town. Due to this, employment can increase because of demand of worker at tourist places. Also, Ticket system at some palces can be invested in building more attractive places.

To Conclude with, Domestic traveling would be more helpful for everybody because they can explore their own country, food and culture as well as dress code rather then wasting money on international trip.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses the prompt by clearly stating a position agreeing that people will choose domestic holidays over international travel. Key reasons such as cost-effectiveness and time-saving are introduced and supported with an example regarding Canadian travelers. However, some ideas remain slightly under-developed or general, such as the mention of social media and government investment in tourism in the third paragraph, which lack specific elaboration. The conclusion summarises the main stance adequately. Overall, all parts of the task are addressed, earning a Band 6.0.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is utilised, although some paragraphs bundle multiple distinct ideas together. Cohesive devices are employed, such as 'To begin with', 'In addition to it', and 'Furthermore', but some transitions feel a bit mechanical. Referencing is generally clear, though occasional minor cohesion faults appear, such as in the sentence 'For examples, Canadian people prefer...'. Progression is maintained throughout the response, fitting the Band 6.0 descriptor well.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting some less common items such as 'cost-effectiveness', 'transportation', and 'accommodation'. However, there are noticeable word choice and spelling errors throughout the text, such as 'agreewith' (spacing error), 'palces', and 'Domestic traveling'. Phrasal choices like 'the lower in cost' also demonstrate occasional inaccuracy. While communication is not impeded by these lexical errors, they place the vocabulary performance firmly at Band 5.5.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response features a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating some control over sentence structures. However, grammatical errors are frequent, including missing articles ('is the lower in cost', 'at tourist places'), subject-verb agreement issues ('domestic travel usually involve', 'government tried'), and incorrect pronouns ('their is no need'). Punctuation and phrasing errors also occur, such as 'People use to post'. These frequent errors occasionally cause difficulty for the reader, aligning the performance with Band 5.0.
