IELTS Writing Task 2 question

In the future, more people will choose to go on holiday in their own country and not travel abroad on holiday. Do you agree or disagree?

Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.

 

Student answer (Band 6.5)

Most individuals would prefer to visit their home country rather than take international trips during their holidays. I disagree with this notion, and I will discuss it in the following paragraphs.

To begin with, due to the increasing use of social media, people tend to develop more interest in planning vacations with their loved ones to various countries. They want to feel free, travel to each continent, have fun, and collect memories for their old age. They want to carry these reminders to their future generations as a reminder to enjoy every moment of life because they will not be young or at the same age again. People are vastly open-minded these days. They escape from their daily activities to explore the world during their days off so that they can utilize that time to enjoy.

Moving forward, in this era, anxiety and depression are common psychological illnesses around the world; they generally find travelling as their therapy. They meet with other nationalities, their cultures, traditions, food, and their environment. Psychologically, this is one of the best therapies to stay positive and happy in life. Travelling to their own countries is still a memorable experience as they meet their families and spend time with them. But planning the trip to a new country each time is more fun. A person can visit a beach or ocean, mountains, cultural sites, or a historical site over a couple of years. This will give them a broad perspective on their life.

To conclude, planning a trip to the home country once in a while is a nostalgic experience for an individual, but utilizing that time to discover a whole new experience of a country is a better option that these generations are choosing.
