Student answer (Band 5.0)

i agree that domestic tourism will become

more popular than international travel in the future. although travelling abroad is exciting there are several practical reasons why people will prefer to stay within their own country for holidays

the main reason is the rising is the rising cost of international travel. airfares, visa fees , and accommodation abroad have become very expansive especially after the pandemic and due to inflation. for a middle class family in Nepal for example a trip to Pokhara or chitwan ie much more affordable than a holiday on Thailand or Europein. in addition domestic Trip do not require a visa or foreign currency exchange which makes planning much easier and cheaper. another important factor is environmental awareness and convenience. many people are now concerned about their carbon footprint and Long haul flights contribute heavily to pollution staycation or local travel is seen as a more sustainable option.

some people argue taht foreign holidays offer More exotic experience ls but i believe it many countries including Nepal have Enough diversity of their own from mountains to jingles to cultual own from mountains to jingles to culture heritage to explore for a lifetime

in conclusion due to lower costs environmenttal

concerns and greater convinced i believe more people will chose to Holiday in their own country in the fiture

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The student presents a clear position agreeing with the prompt and supports it with relevant arguments such as cost, environmental awareness, and domestic diversity. Examples like Pokhara and Chitwan successfully ground the response in personal context. However, the response falls short of the official 250-word minimum, containing only 221 words. This under-length issue directly impacts the development of ideas, preventing the writer from fully exploring their points in a way that aligns with Band 6 or higher descriptors. Consequently, Task Achievement is penalised for length and partial task completion, placing it firmly at Band 5.5.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay displays a generally coherent overall arrangement with logical sequencing of ideas. The writer introduces distinct paragraphs for cost, environmental concerns, and domestic alternatives. However, cohesive devices are somewhat basic or missing due to the lack of capitalization, punctuation errors, and choppy transitions between sentences. For instance, phrases like 'the main reason is' and 'another important factor' are used, but mechanical punctuation issues disrupt the flow. Paragraphing is attempted but visually compromised. Overall, this demonstrates the characteristics of Band 6, where cohesion is sometimes faulty and referencing is not always clear.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully incorporating terms such as 'domestic tourism', 'carbon footprint', 'sustainable option', and 'cultural heritage'. There are, however, noticeable spelling and word-choice errors, such as 'expansive' instead of 'expensive', 'Trip' instead of 'trips', 'jingles' instead of 'jungles', and 'convinced' instead of 'convenience'. Additionally, the complete lack of capitalization limits control over lexical features. These errors do not entirely impede communication but restrict the score to Band 5.5.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, utilizing subordinating clauses such as 'although travelling abroad is exciting there are several practical reasons...'. However, the complete absence of punctuation and capitalization across the entire text is a major drawback, creating run-on sentences and making sentence boundaries difficult to discern. There are frequent punctuation errors and occasional grammatical slips, such as 'holiday on Thailand' instead of 'in Thailand'. While communication is still possible, the poor control over basic punctuation and sentence demarcation caps the score at Band 5.0.
