Student answer (Band 6.0)
In recent years, with the advancement in technology, people tend to spend their holidays in another country. On the other hand, relatively a large number of people argue that in the future local trips are going to be in trend for several reasons. I strongly believe that with the rapid growth of population, it would not be affordable to travel abroad in the coming years.
Firstly, latest technology has decreased the distances and made lives easier and faster. Although, people who can bear the expenses to visit another country particularly during vacations to explore varied lifestyle and culture. Nevertheless, It is also observed that individuals prefer to explore various places in their own country and with the passage of time the number of local visitors is growing simultaneously. There are numerous reasons behind this tendency, for example according to recent studies, highrise transport fares especially air tickets pricing and limited duration of holidays are compelling the visitors to have a local trip in their own home country.
Secondly, governments are also allocating a reasonable budget on improving tourism. It is the best way to generate a huge revenue. Many proponents advocate that tourists should be more inclined to support their own people as it would create more job ooportunities and better community relationships in the region. In my opinion, the number of local tourists is going to surge in the coming decades. However, a cohort analysis suggested that recently in a couple of years, proportion of native tourists increased prominently.
To summarise, more people state that domestic tourism would be prefered in the coming years. I strongly believe if local authorities arrange awareness campaigns on social and paper media, more inhabitants would be visiting their own country during their freetime.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the prompt by discussing the trend of domestic versus international holidays and clearly states a personal position that population growth will make foreign travel unaffordable. Ideas are generally relevant, such as rising transport fares and government spending on tourism. However, some arguments lack full development or extension. For example, the opening premise contains a slight contradiction by stating that people tend to spend holidays abroad while introducing the counter-argument that local trips are becoming a trend. Furthermore, terms like 'cohort analysis' are introduced without sufficient contextual support. Despite these minor underdeveloped points, the main stance is maintained throughout the essay, aligning well with the expectations of a Band 6.0.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with a clear paragraph structure, using introductory, body, and concluding sections appropriately. Cohesive devices are employed, such as 'Firstly,' 'Although,' and 'To summarise,' but their usage is sometimes mechanical or occasionally faulty in terms of punctuation and grammatical integration, as seen in the sentence fragment 'Although, people who can bear the expenses...'. Referencing is generally clear, though the logical progression between sentences occasionally falters due to abrupt transitions, such as moving from technology and distances directly into personal financial constraints without a smooth bridge. Paragraphing is adequate, but internal cohesion within paragraphs could be tighter to reach a higher band.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
The student attempts a range of vocabulary suitable for the task, incorporating less common items such as 'advocate', 'proportion', and 'cohort analysis'. However, there are noticeable inaccuracies in word choice, collocation, and spelling. For instance, 'ooportunities' is misspelled, 'highrise transport fares' is an inappropriate collocation (fares are typically high rather than high-rise), and 'paper media' is an unnatural phrasing for print media. While these errors do not impede communication, they reflect the characteristics of a Band 6.0, where an adequate range is shown alongside persistent lexical inaccuracies.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating some control over multi-clause structures such as 'I strongly believe that with the rapid growth of population, it would not be affordable to travel abroad in the coming years.' However, there are frequent grammatical errors and punctuation issues, including sentence fragments ('Although, people who can bear the expenses to visit another country...') and tense inconsistencies ('native tourists increased prominently' following a future-focused discussion). Punctuation errors also disrupt the flow in places. Because errors are noticeable and can occasionally cause the reader hesitation, the writing fits comfortably into the Band 5.5 to 6.0 range, stabilizing at a 6.0 for displaying a workable mix of structures.
