Student answer (Band 6.0)

In today's rapidly evolving world the topic of spending holiday in home country has sparked considerable debate among the individuals and experts alike. While there are several arguments in support of and against the issue, it remains a matter of personal priorities and broader global trends. Some people choose to spend their holidays in home country rather than going abroad. I largely agree with the individuals who prefer to travel and spend locally and help boosting the economy.

To begin with, there are several people who support the idea of spending holidays in their own country rather going to various tourist spots all around the world. Moreover, it brings very numerous benefits both: for country and themselves. For example, their spending on local hotels for stay can boost the hotel industry of the area and create masssive job opportunities for locals. Furthermore, it helps to maintain a balance of wealth in local communities and give them chance to develope more.

On the other hand, there are also convincing factors in favour of spending holidays abroad despite home country. It can give a chance to people to see the great wonders of the world and improve their experiences. Although, other benefits are to understand about the different cultures and norms which help to boost our focus. For example, studies show traveling abraod can bring massive business opportunities. The first perspective has certain advantages, the opposing argument also deserves careful consideration.

In conclusion, both points have many advantages and disadvantages and I believe our responsbility is to carefully evaluate both in detail while making a decision for spending holidays.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

The student addresses all parts of the task by discussing the trend of holidaying domestically versus abroad, and presents a clear position that largely agrees with local tourism. Ideas are extended with relevant examples, such as boosting the hotel industry and exploring global wonders. However, some arguments tend to over-generalise or remain slightly under-developed, particularly in the conclusion where the position becomes somewhat neutral after previously stating agreement. Overall, the response meets the core requirements of Task Achievement and sits comfortably at Band 6.0.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with clear paragraphing used to separate introduction, body paragraphs, and conclusion. Cohesive devices are employed, such as 'To begin with', 'Furthermore', and 'On the other hand', but some transitions feel mechanical or slightly awkward, such as 'despite home country'. Referencing is generally clear, though logical progression falters slightly towards the end where the writer introduces a concluding stance that slightly contradicts the earlier stated agreement. These characteristics align well with the Band 6 descriptor.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

The student demonstrates an adequate vocabulary range for the task, attempting less common items such as 'rapidly evolving world', 'considerable debate', and 'masssive job opportunities'. However, there are notable spelling errors ('masssive', 'develope', 'abraod', 'responsbility') and some awkward collocations ('spending holiday in home country', 'help boosting'). While these errors do not impede overall communication, they prevent the lexical score from reaching the higher bands, making Band 6.0 an accurate assessment.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0

The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, incorporating relative clauses and conditional structures. There are several grammatical errors present throughout the text, such as 'rather going', 'both: for country and themselves', and missing articles ('traveling abraod can bring'). Despite these errors in grammar and punctuation, the majority of sentences communicate their intended meaning without causing serious difficulty for the reader, fitting the criteria for a Band 6.0.
