Student answer (Band 6.0)

Many folks will prefer to stay in their own country for vacations instead of going to another countries. I partially agree with this statement, because of inflamation and busy schedule they will choose their own country and some of them wants to explore and love to travel abroad for social status.

In future, people will choose to go on vacation in their own country because, nowadays everyone is working and they have hectic schedule. To explain, for going on vacation in abroad, people need atleast 2 to 3 weeks holidays from work which might be not approved from their employers as this will put detrimental effect on efficiency of company. Also, it costs alot of money as they have to book plane tickets, make arrangements for staying in hotel and food etc. Although, some people are rich but still they will think that this will be wastage of money and time. For example, recent studies shows that 60% of people stays in their own country for vacation which also helps in the economy of country.

On the other hand, some of them will choose to go abroad for vacation to maintain their social status. To explain, few people likes to explore new cities and want to show off their money, and prefer to go foreign countries for holidays. For example, most of the states of India travel to new york city or Canada for fun activities and to maintain their status, because it is their mentality.

In conclusion, There are some positive and negative effect of travelling abroad for vacations, some people will go and some not

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

The response addresses the prompt by discussing both sides of the issue—why some people prefer local holidays due to financial and time constraints, and why others travel abroad for status. A clear position is stated in the introduction, where you mention that you partially agree. The ideas are generally relevant, but some points are somewhat under-developed or rely on generalisations rather than deep exploration. For example, the mention of recent studies supporting the 60% statistic adds a bit of specific detail, but the overall development of ideas remains slightly repetitive, particularly in the conclusion which adds little new weight. However, all parts of the prompt are covered sufficiently to meet the requirements for Band 6.0.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The essay has a clear overall structure with a distinct introduction, two body paragraphs, and a brief conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate different arguments. However, cohesion at the sentence level is occasionally faulty or mechanical. Words like 'To explain', 'Although', and 'Also' are used repetitively to introduce points, and referencing is sometimes imprecise, such as using 'some of them' or 'most of the states of India'. Logical progression is present, but transitions between sentences can feel abrupt, which places this text securely in the Band 6 category.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, allowing you to convey your main points about travel, expenses, and social status. There are attempts to use less common vocabulary, such as 'detrimental effect', 'hectic schedule', and 'social status'. However, there are also noticeable word choice and collocation errors, such as 'inflamation' instead of 'inflation', 'vacation in abroad' instead of 'vacations abroad', and 'costs alot of money'. Spelling errors like 'inflamation' and 'alot' occur, though they do not seriously impede communication. The range is sufficient for a Band 6.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence forms throughout the response, such as conditional and concessive structures ('Although, some people are rich but still...'). However, there are frequent grammatical errors and punctuation lapses, such as missing articles ('the economy of country'), double conjunctions ('Although... but...'), and subject-verb agreement issues ('some of them wants'). While these errors are noticeable and require the reader to occasionally re-read parts of sentences, communication is rarely impeded. This performance aligns well with the Band 5.0 to 6.0 descriptors, comfortably earning a 5.5.
