Student answer (Band 6.5)

It is argued that in upcoming years, many people will prefer to enjoy their vacations in their own nation rather than travelling to overseas. I disagree with this statement because from last few years, significant increase in immigration and social media trends are encouraging people to explore the world.

The prime reason for having a great time in abroad is tremendous increment of migrants moving to different countries. Nowadays, parents are taking international flights to spend their vacations with their loved ones, as their children are working in abroad for earning remuneration. For instance, each year, millions of people from developing countries are visiting developed nations on visitor visas to explore different culture, traditions and to meet their family members. Therefore, it is clear that more individuals love to plan a trip to foreign countries.

Digital platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, and many social media apps have played a crucial role to influence people to explore the globe. In this technological era, people are following certain pages online, and getting inspired from influencers who regularly posts travel vlogs on social networking platforms which increases their excitement to visit the similar places. For example, each day, thousands of vloggers are creating content of different countries and uploading on networking applications. As a result, it motivate all age group people to plan a journey internationally.

In conclusion, people prefer to travel to various countries due to migration and social media sites. I firmly believe that spending quality time with family and social media trend are responsible to increase the curiosity among masses to travel abroad on holidays.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

You present a clear and well-defined position regarding whether people will holiday domestically in the future, disagreeing with the prompt. You support your view with two main arguments: increased immigration and the influence of social media. Your ideas are relevant and generally well-developed, with specific examples provided, such as international flights for families and travel influencers on platforms like Instagram and TikTok. However, your argument regarding immigration focuses heavily on visiting family abroad rather than general tourism trends, which slightly misses the core nuance of holiday choices. Despite this slight shift in focus, all parts of the prompt are addressed, and your position is maintained consistently throughout the essay. This performance aligns well with the requirements for a Band 6.5 or solid Band 7, as the ideas are extended and supported effectively.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

Your essay demonstrates a clear overall progression and logical organization. The introduction successfully outlines your stance, followed by two distinct body paragraphs that each explore a separate, coherent theme: migration and social media trends. You use appropriate cohesive devices such as 'For instance', 'Nowadays', and 'As a result' to connect your ideas, although some transitions feel slightly mechanical. Paragraphing is used sufficiently and appropriately, separating the introduction, body paragraphs, and conclusion clearly. Referencing is generally clear, though occasional minor cohesion faults appear, such as in the phrase 'having a great time in abroad', which disrupts the flow slightly. Overall, the organizational structure is logical and easy to follow, fitting comfortably within the Band 6.0 to 6.5 descriptors.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You display an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully attempting less common lexical items such as 'remuneration', 'technological era', and 'curiosity among masses'. However, there are notable word choice and collocation errors that prevent a higher score. For example, writing 'in abroad' instead of 'abroad', 'increment' instead of 'increase', and 'motivate all age group people' rather than 'motivate people of all age groups'. Furthermore, you repeat certain phrases like 'social media' quite frequently. While these errors do not impede communication, they reflect the limitations typical of a Band 6.0 performance, where vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks the precision and flexibility required for Band 7.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0

You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence forms throughout your essay, utilizing relative clauses and conditional structures reasonably well. There are, however, several grammatical errors in punctuation and sentence structure. For instance, you write 'travelling to overseas' instead of 'travelling overseas', 'from last few years' instead of 'over the last few years', and 'regularly posts' instead of the plural 'post'. Additionally, the sentence 'For instance, each year, millions of people from developing countries are visiting...' contains unnecessary comma splices. While these errors do not obscure your overall meaning, they occur frequently enough to prevent you from reaching Band 7. Your control of grammar is consistent with a solid Band 6 level.
